Can I get this replaced under warranty?
The only issue I've had was with that story I mentioned above about the mirror falling off. This was a replacement windshield. The OEM had a small ding and the glass company would not fix it, would only replace. Even though it was smaller than a quarter it was on the drivers side, which means they wouldn't fix it. At the time I had a high deductible and had to pay for the whole thing, but I lived in Pennsylvania at the time and needed it fixed to pass inspection.
So 5 years later when there was 100 degree heat, the rearview mirror fell off and took a chunk of glass out. Apparently some of the aftermarket glues they use might be a bit cheaper and don't withstand the heat as well. So they expand and that's what can happen. This time I had the glass coverage anyway.
But this was 5 years after the installation also, so I guess one can't expect too much. I think it's definitely worth it to have the glass coverage though, considering how easy it is for a rock to fly up and nick your windshield.
I don't know if there's any choice about it though. Can you get the windshield replaced with an OEM one at the dealership if you want?
