2010 brought in for trunk closure problem

i scheduled my first oil change on my 2010 for this morning, and yesterday i got a phone call from the dealer service guy that nissan was flying in two engineers in to look at the trunk problem i also reported. i noticed that my 2010's trunk required alot of force to close and if it didn't close i couldn't just push down with my hands, i had to put my arm and body weight into it to get it to latch.

i was really surprised that they flew in engineers to actually look at it. apparently they monitor the service appointments and flagged mine to send these guys to look at

they just brought me back to see if the adjustments the guys did were satisfactory and they were. i asked one of the guys (both were japanese, and spoke to each other in japanese, so i'm wondering if they flew them in from japan) if this was a common problem and yup, he nodded to confirm it.

i was pretty surprised, especially for such a minor problem. i normally wouldn't be super happy about waiting for 2 hours (1 hour for the guys to do the trunk work, and another for the oil change, radio recall and onre more little thing) but in this case, i thought it was a neat experience.

the striker and latch assembly are all adjustable as are the bumpers on the trunk lid. the two engineers moved the striker to the left by about 1 mm and adjusted the bumpers and now the trunk closes really easy.

You don't need a TSB. next time you bring it in for work just say you have the problem, show it to them and demand they adjust the pieces until it's to your satisfaction.

Or just do it yourself and save a few headaches.

Come to think of it, mine needs more effort to close sometimes. May just do it myself. Didn't think to mention it when i had my oil changed yesterday.

^^ if you can't do it yourself, then fly in a couple of Japanese blokes to help you.

^^^^More like they can fly in and ask me if I'm satisfied with the work that I did. Lol!

Sounds like they're developing a TSB and gathering data. Or your last name is "Nissan".
