How is your trunk closing/opening?
My trunk in '09 G37x sedan is acting up... Occasionally it will not shut. I literaly need to slam it in order to get it shut. When unlocking it, the latch makes a really loud clanking noise. It releases the trunk and then the actuator returns the latch with a really loud 'clank'. I brought it to service today and mentioned all that. Service manager told me that the clanking noise wasn't anything extraordinary and, of course they couldn't replicate the shutting issue. Did anybody experience something similar with their trunks? None of my previous cars had such a loud trunk release.
Thanks.
Thanks.
I have a 2010 sedan and I noticed that if I close the trunk from the center (above the camera) it closes without issue. When I first got the car I would push down on the side (about six inches off center) of the trunk and it would not close easily.
I did mention it to the dealer and they supposedly checked it out and said everything was fine.

Frustrating part is that the service manager put in the job order printout that a hinge was adjusted to address customer's concern - they admitted the problem. I looked at the hinges, and the bolts that hold them all look new - not a single scratch on them. All they did was spraying W40 on the latch. This didn't help. I had exactly the same problem today twice. I will take the car to another dealer and will also look at similar cars in their stock to make sure they don't have this funky clanking noise. From your experiences, is it OK to change dealerships for service/warranty related issues?
there is an adjustment you can do to it.... I haven't looked because I am too lazy but there should be two screws (one on each side) loosen them a hair and then tap latch loop up about a millimeter or so. Retighten screws and test. The reason you need to slam it is because its a hair low and the latch is not catching onto the loop...
design flaw
I have same issue as OP. Dealer replaced trunklid hinges and support struts as everything had become bent and out of alignment. My theory is the gray colored underside of the trunklid is hitting large items placed in the trunk. Seems like a poor design issue to me.
i recently got my car rear-ended and when i got it back after it was repair i had the same problem. i was told "new" parts will sound loud but will get better over time. after a few days i took it to my friend who works at an infiniti dealership and he told me that all it is is that it needs an alignment and that a lot of mechanics hate aligning them so they lie and say its normal.

I also have exactly the same problem (2009). It doesn't happen every time but enough to be annoying. I don't think it is an alignment issue because when it happens, I can reset the latch with the trunk button on the keyless remote (you can here it actuate) and it will then close with one finger.
