so today i decided to black my grill out. sanded it down, got out all those pesky rock chips... thanks infiniti! then proceeded with 4 coats of primer, followed by 3 coats "trim black" spray paint. here's a pic.
just TAKE YOUR TIME when you sand/prime/paint/gloss
you don't want to rush and do a crappy sanding job and have it uneven, or spray too much paint and have it run, or rush in between coats and have it gunk up
Yes, doing a good job sanding is key. Also I waited 15 minutes in between coats. I also used a heat gun to make sure it was definitely dry, almost simulating the "baking" process auto body's use. I'm sure a hair drier would work also.
