To Spoiler or not to Spoiler??

I have a Black 09 G37-S Sedan with no mods except for the midnight grill. I've been thinking about getting the OEM rear lip spoiler. I haven't seen any G Sedans with the lip spoiler in person (the 2 dealers in my area have none with spoilers on their lot). The only spoilers that I have seen in person are the 08 G35 raised spoilers. The reason I'm leaning towards getting the spoiler is because I hate that chrome piece on the trunk, and the OEM lip spoiler eliminates that. However when looking at pictures alone, some angles the spoiler looks good and some angles not so good. Just wanted to get some opinions on whether to get the spoiler or not. Keep in mind that I'm never going to lower or put a set of rims on this car.

Thanks.

I personally like the OEM lip spoiler. When I got my G37xS I got the aero package and midnight grill. I think the small add-ons add a lot to the look of the car.

I went for the rear spoiler. It didn't get installed for a little over 2 months, so I've had both with and without it. Definitely prefer with.

I plan on putting vinyl over my chrome spoiler.

have you consider that instead?

I feel the same way as you, hate the chrome thing, want the lip spoiler, but is it worth $400 plus installation? Not to me.

An older '08 wing style spoiler is only $100 painted, but it does not cover the chrome thing on the back. I am not a big fan of vynil so i for one am waiting for someone to make a cheaper after market lip spoiler.

I like the older wing style spoiler as well. If I remember, it has an integrated 3rd brake light. Does the oem spoiler have the third brake light??

I got it on my new 2010 g37x sedan. I love it soo much. It makes the car. Like you I didn't really like the chrome piece.

I love the spoiler.

I'm not a fan of the vinyl either. I'm skeptical of bubbleing, peeling, colour not matching etc.

The lowest price I could talk my dealer into was $550 for the lip spoiler, installation, and an Ester Oil Change.

What about getting that chrome piece painted ? You can take it off, can't you? It might be a bit more labor-intensive for anyone with a backup camera though...

Same here...I had my xS for 2 months prior to installing the front chin and rear lip spoilers....the car def looks better w/ both pieces on (the diff the front chin spoiler makes is amazing). I know what you mean about the rear lip spoiler looking odd though at certain angles...but the "good" angles far outnumber the "odd" angles, IMHO.
