What's the difference when you turn off VDC?

I've driven it both ways and I don't notice a difference. Maybe I haven't pushed the car to the limit yet.

Oh, you'll definately notice a BIG difference if you really get on it. If you have a non sport model you'll notice the significant side launch (since the non sport doesn't have a limited slip diferential) if you go in DS mode and punch it. I wouldn't suggest letting it loose w/ VDC off in a regular traffic situation, practice using it in some wide open areas first

don't try it in traffic.

unless you're experienced, bad throttle control with VDC off will cause your car to spin out easily.

Try going to a loose gravel lot or something similar. You'll definitely feel the difference. You won't even have to go past 20mph to feel it.

I came out of a 2008 CTS (piece of **** by the way) however, if you hold the VDC butten for three seconds the car goes into Competitive mode and changes the set up of the car beyond DS mode. Anyone try this in the G

The difference is that when you turn it off and drive crazy we read about how you crashed your G.

Merely for feeling the difference, no more than a few seconds, at 20mph or less, it won't mess up anything except maybe get your tires dirty.

Not to mention, given the alternative (public streets, higher speeds), it's a much safer route.

Turning off VDC in a snow filled parking lot & AWD = fun!

But yea it's very noticeable when turned off in a snow situation, the car will totally slide around and get loose on command. Turn it back on and keeps you pretty straight and controlled, no real sliding / tail hanging allowed.

Just turned off VDC in the middle of DTLA and it's raining. If you were on Fig and Wilshire and saw a PG G37 sedan drift across around noon, it was me. DEFINITELY makes a difference in the wet.

are you saying holding VDC for 3 seconds will do something different than just turning it off in a g?

No it won't

VDC will basically cut off your fuel and kick in your ABS to get you back in a straight line whenever your car skids. You'll notice it's effect in wet conditions easily. I strongly recommend you keep your VDC on all the time unless you're on the track or in closed and open area.

Obviously I hope the OP does NOT do this though.

ha ha - that's so true. I've been on so many forums where guys complain about having wrecked their new muscle car, and VDC is almost always off when the explanation comes out. And driving crazy in the rain/snow.

VDC saves my butt all time when my tail wags out on slick streets. I would have slid my tail into oncoming traffic yesterday after a too enthusiastic press on the throttle if it hadn't been for my VDC. Which, actually, is dialed pretty far back for the G, IMO - it could activate even sooner in rainy conditions, and I'd be fine with it.
