Advice for a 12 hour drive

Hey guys! Well I am moving from Atlanta to Detroit on Friday morning. Any last minute advice for the 11.5 - 12 hour drive? I plan on checking the tire pressure on thursday. Should I have the tires at 32psi or should it be a little higher since the car is going to be full packed with basically my entire apartment. LOL

Check your spare tire pressure; have a flashlight handy and make sure you have a car cell phone charger.

Aside from what Max mentioned, you might wanna bring a friend. Driving for that long straight by yourself can get pretty darn boring. I guess also on the same page is plan out your stops and bring some granola bars or snack food, just in case you have a unplanned stop and you're starving.

Max: thanks I didnt even think about a flashflight

Jay: I wish I had space for another person in the car. I dont even know how I am going to fit all this stuff in my car. I am really regretting having a 12" sub in the trunk right now! LOL

Find someone who has nothing to do and can drive up their car with you (and wants to help you move in when you get to Detroit). Shoulda told us ahead of time and maybe we could've had a G convoy up Would've been a fun rally-ish thing to do. You leave ATL with one person from there, get to your first stop and another G driver joins up. That way you'd meet people on the board and have a friend during the drive.

Now that I think about it, that's an awesome idea.

Bring fresh fruit to snack on and skip all the caffeine...trust me, you'll feel much better overall...used to do it when I made the long 13-14 hour run to NJ and it worked great. I convinced a buddy of mine to do the same thing years later when he was making a 6 hour run home every Thursday night after work and he became a believer!

32psi when cold.

They should be heated up to about 37~38psi while driving.

I do a lot of 8 hour drivings (550 miles including mountain and twisties), and thing I find mostly needed was water. Cold water in cooler.

It also helps if you have a passenger who would keep you company the entire way.

If you've got XM, be sure to tune into RawDog comedy toward the end of your trip, that should keep you awake & alert

Got a 12 hr drive to Vegas on Sat, but having Vegas to look forward to keeps me alert

I saw bring a sweet playlist (like Tomiegunzz said) with a wide variety of music .... music that would keep you awake though ahah.

And of course a 12 pack of RedBull!

Tape up the front bumper with some blue masking tape. It might sound stupid but otherwise it will get destroyed from being on the hw for that long. Maybe do the rear view mirrors and rocker panels too.
