New owner of a black on black G37x S sedan

Greetings fellow G owners. My name is Tom and I recently leased a black on black G37x S sedan, trading in my '05 Crossfire SRT-6. I needed a more "adult" car than a little 2-seater, wanted a 4 door for convenience, but wanted something that could still blast a Mustang at a red light and could carve up the corners should the desire strike.

I test drove a couple trim levels of the '09 G, a '10 335i xDrive and an '09 328xi. AWD was a must, Nav was a must, 0-60 under 6 sec. was a must.

After driving the BMWs I thought the G37 would feel like a compromise, but I ended up liking the overall experience in the G a lot more. On pure agressive driving feel, the 335i xDrive would get a very slight nod, but everything else led to the G. The interior feels much more upscale, the car felt more comfortable in general, and the 7 speed mated to the paddle shifter in DS mode was much better then the Bimmer's 6-speed/paddle shifter combo. I test drove the G somewhat, shall we say...aggressively, and couldn't wipe the stupid grin off my face. After putting it in DS, nailing the throttle, and taking a turn waaaaay to fast (not on purpose) only to have the car pull through and beg for more...yeah...I was sold at that instant.

Second day with the car was a trip up to the Pocono mountains (about 112 miles) loaded down with music equipment and audio gear with between 3 and 5 inches of snow for the last 1/3 of the trip. Observations; the Nav system is incredible, this engine is a beast, 7 speeds are better than 5, AWD rocks, and road salt is not my friend.

I look forward to talking all thing G (and many things not) with all of you.

Congrats and welcome; make sure you break in the engine properly the first 1200 miles.

Best of luck!! I've got a 2010 G37xS black/black getting delivery mid Feb. Premium/Nav/Sport. I wanted the Dunlop 18" Sport Maxx A/S tires.

How much was the total including tax and what not? I'm thinking about buying the same setup.

Congrats on the new car. I can feel your excitement.
Here's the good news....Nothing looks better than a detailled Black on Black car.
Here's the bad news.....Nothing is harder to keep looking good than black on black car.
Enjoy it!

I test drove the '10 S4 and 335i as well. Did not waste my valuable time with the 328i

I wanted the S4, no complaints there except how deep my pockets could go. Its truly an amazing car.

335i, I think you put it very well, no need to add anything to what you said. In fact at the time of getting the 2010 G37xS the 335i's were available for numbers not so far off but my take is if you are going to go the German route, do it right, the S4 does that job very well. No need for the HPFP issues amongst other things.

Ended up in the G, I had an 08 G35X but the xS loves the turns more than the 08X Enjoy the ride, I am occassionally doing more than 4000 rpm although I have around 600 miles on her.
