New G37 Sedan

Hi All,

I checked out this forum before buying my G37 and it was very helpful. I finally pulled the trigger today and bought one: AWD, sport package, premium package, and navigation. I'll post pics soon.

When I picked the car up, it had 9 miles. I drove it about 30 miles before pulling into my garage. When I got out of the car, I could smell oil burning under the hood. It was a relatively clean smell, but burning nonetheless. Is this typical for the G? I did not drive it hard at all. Well, maybe once I wanted to see what it could do from the stop light.

Btw, I am in NoVA.

Hey Skated I'm in NoVA as well and just bought a Journey with the same packages. Welcome to the board. The smell you smelled is probaby just new car burn in. Might want to check your oil, but it's typical for the brakes and catalytic converters and other new parts to give off an odd odor for the first few days.

the burning smell is fairly normal for every new car. it'll go away completely at about 1.2k.

but rule of thumb keep the RPMs under 4200 for at least the first 750, 1500 miles would be ideal, for the break in period.

I had the burned smell too....had it for several weeks in fact...I think. Every once in a while I might smell something when I get out if I've been driving a bit hard...but that is probably just the brakes I smell.

SO yea...burning smell is normal...should go away in a few weeks.

Thanks! That's what I figured but just wanted to be sure. What a great car so far. I traded my beemer for the G and I am surprised at how much easier to use the G is. This is defn. going to be a car I keep for a long time.

@2009Black: Which dealership did you buy from and how did you like the service.

I used many of the resources on this site and out there. I.e., Zag.com, truecar.com, and costco, and after all was said and done. Passport worked it all out pretty well for me.
