Question Confusing qustions....

Hey Guys,

I really don't know who to believe as I am getting conflicting stories and would like to know if you guys can shed some light on this. Well right now, I am anxiously waiting delivery of my new 2009 BO G37S+Tech I ordered in July, but will not see until the end of October.

So here are some questions:

1. A dealer told me the sport brakes on the G37S are made from Brembo and just rebadged? True or false? Who did make the brakes for them? If they are Brembo's would I see the brake dust issues?

2. A dealer told me that I should be using standard oil for the car and not synthetic as the pistons and cylinder walls are molybdenum coated? True or false? Another dealer told me that I should be using synthetic. On the forums I have been reading that I should use Ester. HELP

3. Since I am leasing my G37S, I have been thinking of getting the sport chin lip for the vehicle and wondered wouldn't it be cheaper to purchase the OEM from G35Everything instead of putting on the lease?

4. Anyone have any experience with pairing the G with a iPhone 3G and what features are available?

Thanks All,

Imtoast.

1) sport brakes are made by Akebono but rebadged with Infiniti .... so, it's not Brembo

2) Ester is recommend, but i use synthetic right now

3) Buy which ever is cheaper... putting it on the lease plus the interest.... probably cheaper to add it on urself from G35Everything

Nope, made by Akebono: Brake System Design - The Infiniti G37 Information Resource

2. A dealer told me that I should be using standard oil for the car and not synthetic as the pistons and cylinder walls are molybdenum coated? True or false? Another dealer told me that I should be using synthetic. On the forums I have been reading that I should use Ester. HELP

Nope, Inifiniti's recommendation is their own Ester oil however its a personal choice if you want to use Synthetic for extra mileage, many do.

3. Since I am leasing my G37S, I have been thinking of getting the sport chin lip for the vehicle and wondered wouldn't it be cheaper to purchase the OEM from G35Everything instead of putting on the lease?

Probably would be unless you could get the dealer to just throw it in.

4. Anyone have any experience with pairing the G with a iPhone 3G and what features are available?

Don't have, use a Samsung i760.

it's cheaper if you install the front chin spoiler yourself... If a dealership would add it in, I have to pay a technician to install it... and we all know the shop labor rates to charge.

Akebono's are not made by Brembo... different company....

I want to know who and what dealership said that so I can laugh at them.

Ester oil is recommended if you have a noise but not mandatory.

iPhone3G is limited in downloading the phonebook into the car if you opted for navigation.

if you ordered it in July, it should be here by now end of Sept/Early Oct

The dealer wanted to charge me 800 CAD for the chin spoiler and the install.

Really? Since I don't know much about performance brakes other than Brembo, I would guess they would be comparable if not better than the Brembos?

Although, your comment made me laugh and smile, I didn't want to ridicule the guy considering he owns a 08 G37xS with a Stillen Gen3 Intake and Exhaust. He did have a chin spoiler with it though. I was wondering wouldn't the 6MTs have the chin spoiler because being a sport model already?

I would assume this would be the valve noise eminating from the engine and ester would quiet it down? Which would be a better oil? Mobil 1, Amsoil, Motul?

That's unfortunate, I guess I would have to program my favorite calls in then instead of my phonebook.

Actually, I ordered it in the end of July, and I would think it would be here by the end of September, but the dealer told me the end of October. I live in Canada so I would assume the delivery times are longer here than over in the U.S.

Since the iPhone has a removable sim card, you can put the sim into a phone that does bluetooth beams. Then beam over your contacts. Remove that cell phone from the system switch it with your iphone. I think if you use the replace phone option, it will keep the contacts.

The Akebono calipers are larger than the Brembo calipers. The rear Akebonos are as large as the front Brembos.

HOLEEE!!! CRAPP!! Those are huge!!! Are the discs factory slotted? or just the standard flat surface? Whats the average maintenance cost on these?

Also should I change my oil every 3100 miles? I usually average about 30 to 50 miles a day.

the akebonos are sick dude. 4 piston front, 2 piston back on 14 and 13.8 inch discs. they look sweet on the Gs they're my favorite part of the car's appearance.

they are a little softer, but they hold up under heat like the brembos. they're also cheaper to replace than brembos too. I mean brembo disc/pads replacement is like 2-3x more than the akebonos.

Even more reason to laugh at him since he doesn't know what he's talking about.

The sport models have different front bumpers but do not include any lip spoilers.

So I would hazard a guess that there is no lip available for the G35S?

Alta Infiniti... Initials MT

OEM = solid face, vented rotor

Here's the OEM sport lip:

There's also an OEM trunk lip spoiler, check the marketplace under dealer vendors.

Call Rick @ Riverside for the best price.

I don't see why there wouldn't be a lip spoiler available for the G35S. The cars are identical in appearance (except for the side view mirrors. Ask at the parts desk, if not order the lip for the G37 and it *should* fit the G35.

LOL, I know exactly who you're talking about. That's a dealer car, not really his. Everytime I go in for service he's like "Dude, come and check out what we did to the car!" and then he tells me to take it out and drive it around. Then he tells me that I need to buy whatever exhaust, intake, whatever they've put on that car "becuase it sounds so awesome".

I remember when I was asking him about the G37 Sedan last summer he was asking me "Where did you hear that Infiniti is putting the 3.7L in the Sedan? That's top secret info!" I told him that not only was it all over the internet but Infiniti released the G37 in Europe so it only made sense that they would bring it to North America especially since the Coupe had it.

He's a nice guy but I take everything he says with a huge grain of salt.

LOL!! Now is he a shyster when it comes to pricing? My car broker recommended him for the G37S since my G35 was purchased from another dealer, but the sales rep has gone to a competitor. I am paying $43,979 for the car with the tech package and rear spolier. Is that a good deal? How are these guys for service? I got my 1,500km service for free.

No, he's a really good guy (he just get excited really easily). Several people in my family have bought cars from him and we've all been extremely happy with the service. He's also really straight forward with you on pricing. That seems like a good price for the car.

I would recommend him and Alta to anyone. From my experience they really treat the customers well. I also got the 1,500 km oil change free. Alta is always winning awards for customer service from Infiniti.

I also got my car from him through a car broker (as did other members of my family).

Really.... I have put in a down payment on a new 2009 G37S so I am waiting for it to arrive apparently the end of October. I won't know the actual details of the cost until I see the agreement at pickup time.
