About to pass the break-in milestone

After 33 days, I'm a few miles shy of 1200. On the way home I'll be Post-BI!!!

I've been good to the car and maybe went over 4K RPM three times (never over 5K) and most of those in the last 500 miles. Although I don't plan to beat the car it's nice to know I can use it's power when I need it.

Whoo Hoo!

the first day, I got it up to 100mph as fast as possible. Got it for 2 weeks, got it up to 120 a few times. I want to show my car from day 1 what it's gonna be living with me.
Always done that, never had any problem with my cars.
My salesman even said to me: "don't worry about break-in, you don't need to worry about that nowadays."

My dealer told me not to stay and any one speed for too long. Not to use cruise for 300 miles. Besides that drive it at all speeds. I've heard that many times. It's better to vary speed and drive it like it will be driven from day one. What are your thoughts?

The key is to vary "engine" speed and not keep the RPM at any one spot for too long. If I was on a stretch of highway cruising sometime's I'd move the 7AT to a 6th gear for a bit but that's about it. Many don't believe a formal break-in period is warranted but I think it's worth trying to follow although keeping it under 4K RPM is not easy.

So we are clear, the Infiniti salespeople didn't design this car and don't know crap about the mechanics behind this wonderful machine. Like all of my car buying experiences, I knew more about this car then my salesperson. For example, I had to inform him during his post sale demo that 6MT does not come with the entry/exit feature.

You'd think salespeople would be more familar with their own products.

As for break in, I waited about 400 miles to take it to redline. This car chirps 2nd gear with ease and I think a powershift into 3rd may even bark the rear tires. The clutch grabs hard.

When I bought mine, I was telling my dealership what was coming in the 2009 model. They had no idea. You are absolutely right. They should know more then the average Joe, but I am no average Joe!

My thoughts are that you need to take your skirt off and drive your damn car

This is a sports car folks. Drive it like one. Used my cruise early, the first weekend on a long trip, no problems. Also blew it out to 110. I drive so hard that there is little difference between D and SD. I have almost 14,000 miles on mine and she is hummin' like a dream. This car is made to drive. It is so quick that I find it hard to keep her down at times. Oh well, I'm a man you are all skirts!
