I just bought (3 weeks ago) an '09 G37x with premium pkg. and am kicking myself everyday for not getting the sport package. Mostly because of the bigger wheels and bigger brakes (sporty looking caliper and larger rotors). The sport seats, paddle shifters, side sills, etc. are just icing on the cake. All for $1100 MSRP ($950 invoice) is a great value. Now for me to upgrade the wheels and add sporty calipers (painting the standard ones will look lame), will cost a lot more money!

I don't think that the Sports package on the AWD model has bigger brakes. It's just the seats, shifters, wheels and side sills ect...

That's why it's only $1100

So to ask my question again about the sport seats:

Do the Sport model owners find the Sport seats too narrow?
Does it soften up or widen out a bit?

I guess it depends on your girth to decide if the seats are too narrow. I had a loaner coupe with no sport package (I'm going to assume the same seats as a sedan w/ no sport package) and found the seats easier to get in and out of, but not supportive enough. Maybe because I was already used to the sport seats.

The sport seats come with thigh and lumbar adjustments, so I can get it just perfect. I've only driven the car for 900 miles, so I can't personally say if they'll widen or soften later down the road.

I'm a noob too, just got the car a week and a half ago. It stands for the color, Black Obsidian

I kept forgetting if it was Black Obisidian or Obsidian Black, so I had to check the Infiniti site to just make sure lol

IMO, the Sports seats are overkill for every day driving; unless you track your car or drive on winding roads on a regular basis, you will hardly use the side bolster adjustments.

my point exactly.... I'm actually a very normal build guy and I can say, they fit a little tight... ok with your legs straight out but on a long trip, having a bit of freedom is nice.

So Sport owners please chime in....
How do you really feel about the sport seats? Are they too narrow on long trips and do you find them too confining?

I've sat in them for say 15 minutes at the dealer and they do seem a little tight... I'd like to get a AWD Sport model for just a few reasons (like the paddles) but not if they are too tight on trips.

I love them. Had then on my 08xS and now on my 09S. But from reading different posts not every one finds them comfortable. Make sure test drive a car with the seats and decide for yourself.

Do they widen out???
I guess that depend on the size of your tuckus.

Also I've driven both G's on long trips with the wife and family and neither one of us had any issues with cars comfort. The sport seats were great and the sport suspension is not overly harsh at all.

Last edited by gugarci; Aug 14, 2009 at 08:22 AM. Reason: added tuckus

I'm 6'3", 235 lbs and got the sport package on the sedan. I've had the car under a month and with 2 road trips have put almost 2k miles on the car already.

No major complaints with the seats. They're fine for me for every day driving. On longer drives I find myself shifting around a little more than my old car, but that's it.

I must say that I can't see a much more individual preference item than this one... we all have our own sized butts, and preferences on how they are held in place in a car.

I have the sport seats and think they are great.... your mileage may vary.
