The production car didn't even arrive yet man... How are they going to sell something they aren't 100% sure about?

I have a $1000 deposit down, but only because I cancelled my order on a 2006 and told them to keep it for the new model, whenever it comes out. I had hoped that would be this summer, but it looks like early 2007 (at the earliest). I'll still wait, though.

It wouldn't be the first time. Trust me.

Why would you put a grand down on a car that isn't even finalized yet?

Putting $1000 down seems to say "Please sell it to me for way over MSRP! I need this car NOW!"

I would expect it to be MSRP. Otherwise, I'd balk and ask for the deposit back.

You know that MSRP is the highest price the dealer can sell it for right? We're not talking invoice here...

Yeah, you might be right, but I doubt it, when a new model comes out, sometimes, depending on the demand, they can get over MSRP, seen it many times, the '03 Cobra is one example..........

MSRP is a suggestion. The dealer can "try" to sell the car at any price they want to. Either above or below MSRP.

I don't think they'll be getting over msrp on these, even the first week they come out. I think it'll be very much like the lauch of the new IS series - they'll get msrp for a few months then they'll start selling at msrp-$1000, then 1500, etc.. By the end of the year they'll be selling them just over invoice, just like the current model.

That is assuming the coupe released is the next G coupe, and not something else entirely.

Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price I know, but what dealer would sell for more than that? Better yet, who would buy?

There is always someone who HAS to be the first on the block with a new model.
