08 6mt coupe in limp mode after sitting

My buddies car was sitting for about 3 weeks while i was waiting on parts to fix his alignment bolts in the rear, then his hood latch was stuck. Got everything fixed and the hood opened yesterday and the battery was drained, no surprise there, when we jumped it the car was in limp mode, wouldn't rev past 2k and stalled after 5 minutes. Could this be because of the battery? He was thinking maybe bad alternator too. No codes at all.

I'm having the same issue.. Car sat for only 3 days and now when starting it up it runs rough and loss of power.. No codes. Wondering what it could be.

Haven't really messed with it much. Once we can get it into the driveway we're going to pull the alternator and have it tested.

Take a look at @SonicVQ 's post here: Unexplained Limp Mode - Nissan 370Z Forum

"Trouble codes and the OBD system are ONLY for emission related items. If something fails that only impact engine performance, but not emissions, a code will not be set.

Technically our cars don't have a "limp mode" BUT do have a "fail safe mode"
In the FSM under fail-safe will show what item is suspect depending on the engine RPM limit.

For example, if the engine won't rev above 3,500 RPM there is an issue with the VVEL system.
Was there a specific RPM the engine was limited to?"

His wouldn't rev past 2000. I told him to try driving it up and down the street a little but it stalled before he could.
