Q60 Red Sport Cold Air Intake recommendation
I am certain that the stock intakes are designed to bring in cold air from behind the bumper cover so they should be more than sufficient performance wise. But if you are considering swapping over to an aftermarket intake system, just make sure the design has the filters outside of the engine bay. Some of the less expensive intakes have the filters in the engine bay and this tends to decrease performance due to drawing in hot under-hood air.
Another aftermarket intake concern is that those designed with the filters outside of the engine bay either put the filter directly behind the front grill or in the cavity in front of the front wheels. In either case, they will bring cooler air, but if you live in a rain soaked area there is the real possibility of hydro-locking your engine from drawing in to much water. (or stalling out from drawing to much water).
As for purchase options, you can monitor the forum (Q forum, not the G forum) or Ebay, et.al. for a used system. Brand wise: the Ali Baba stuff is cheaper, but has low manufacturing quality and no customer service whereas the name bands have better quality and a support staff to stand behind their product.
Other than that, its your call, dig around the forums and read others opinions then you will be good to go.
