2011 IPL Jumped Time?

Hi all, so my engine would crank but not actually turn over. I took it to Firestone who said it's either a stuck cam phaser or a jumped timing chain. I took it to another shop and they said it has indeed jumped time. They said that's not common at 117k miles but maybe the engine was consuming lots of oil and it got too low before I realized it. They also said this engine was known for that (jumping time) and has since been redesigned. The replacement engine (a used one of the redesigned with about 50k miles on it) installed would be about $6700, and Infiniti service center said they probably couldn't beat that.

Has anyone else heard of this happening? What would you do? Get rid of the car for what you can get, or go through with the engine replacement?

Hmm I see VQ37 going for average $900 last I checked.

I would buy one of those and just stick it in your car and call it a day
