HKS exhaust review

So I thought I'd make this thread to help other people who were in my shoes this past year.

I started with a stock car and somehow fell into modifying the exhaust system since one of the bolts on the y-pipe rusted off (lol). One thing led to another and I ended up doing full exhaust on top of other crap.

The power gain was nice. But the drone from the exhaust was unliveable. I did not want to go back to stock either.

I spent a ship load of time, energy, etc trying to build a custom exhaust for my car that would make it QUIET while maintaining good flow. I must have tried every type of muffler and resonator out there and I must have learned a ship load of new things during the process. BUT, I realized that without actually calculating and doing the maths, I was just pointing and shooting and hoping for a hit.

I finally said **** it, and started looking at all the exhausts out there for the VQ37. Initially I didn't want to purchase an exhaust system because they're all over 1K and I couldn't justify spending 1K on a ****ing car exhaust. (I ended up spending way more than that trying to build my own exhaust). I somehow landed on the HKS after seeing all the youtube comments saying that the exhaust was 'too quiet'. Which was perfect for me because I didn't want sound, I just wanted good flow while maintaining quiet liveble levels.

The HKS exhaust is made to order just like many car parts at the moment, so I was bummed out about having to wait another 6 months for the exhaust (wasn't going with any other exhaust, since the other 1K+ ones still drone).

I called around to check stock. I think enjuku racing was the only one who had it in stock at a reasonable price, so I placed my order.

Exhaust arrived and everything was spectacular. I installed the exhaust (after extending it 1.2 inches) and let me tell you. I should have gotten this exhaust from the start lol. NO DRONE. And the power is still there.

Come to think of it, it was HKS that designed the OEM mufflers for these cars, so it makes sense that an aftermarket performance exhaust system designed by them would be ideal for these cars. And it is !

There are many options out there and they all work for specific applications. This option worked for me because it was exactly what I was looking for - quiet and effective. Thanks for reading.

Any other exhaust system WILL drone and you will definitely lose brain matter from that purposefully engineered vibration frequency.
