and suddenly you're at $1200 to be functional, with Tesla options being cheaper (the curse of all non-tech owners)

fyi, you can get this same thing that nifty city rebrands on AliExpress for a few hundred less. I have never tried it however, so I can't speak for quality. But I have seen it on there.

I'll be the first one to admit that the Tesla Style heads up display for the G37 is intoxicating; put one of these in every new Q50/60 that sells and eliminate most of the complaints that analysts have regarding the platform. However, I honestly question if I would personally use it to its full potential as I have come to appreciate plugging my phone into the USB port and using any app on my phone which produces audio (Google Maps, Podcasts, Recorded Books, Apple Music, etc.). It's flawless, very predictable (Unlike my wife's Honda with Carplay that bullies my FM sports radio and swaps back to Carplay unexpectedly) and I honestly prefer "listening" to music, podcasts, books, directions vs. viewing the same on a display as I'm tooling along on the highway. Has simplicity lost its place in the world?True, it would be cool to play YouTube videos and movies on the display in my car (one guy on YouTube even has a PS4 connected), but my specific use case never has me watching DIY G37 sunroof drain repairs on YouTube, or the latest episode of the "Cars that Made America" on History channel while driving in the car.

What am I missing? More important, what do you lose when installing one of these displays (steering wheel controls, phone call quality, incorrect temps on the HVAC?), aside from more space in the garage used to store the replaced OEM dash components that are in perfect condition? Not trying to be a buzz-kill, but need help personally crossing the threshold of practicality and enthusiasm.

I'd like to see that unit in action.
