I’m swapping akebono calipers onto my g37x, just wondering what else is different on the Akebonos because I just found a akebono master cylinder and a couple different brackets on z1’s website any info helps, thanks

The brake banjo bolt are different between the base/journey sliding brakes and the Akebono. Cold also just upgrade to stainless steel braided lines.
Are you buying the full kit from Z1? If so, its pretty much complete.

I got calipers, pads, rotors, z1 braided lines, and I don’t know if I need it but I ordered the sport master cylinder probably wasn’t necessary but if it’s better than the base model master cylinder then whatever. I just got a little worried when I saw hardlines and brackets and the master cylinder labeled for the sport Akebono brakes

 

Normally, it is best to do the master cylinder also because most of the time, cars with larger calipers have a larger master cylinder. it seems that the 1 piston cars use a 15/16" size and the Akebono cars use a 1" size. This will help with the pedal feel. But a lot of people don't swap the master cylinder and are fine with it.

 

I also got the sport brake dust shields. Now are the fitting going to the master cylinder for the lines and stuff all the same?

 

All the hardlines connecting to the master cylinder ar the same.

 

Got aftermarket or OEM 18'' wheels? If you're still running the stock 17s they won't clear. Everything else has been mentioned for the swap to be successful.
