Hey guys. I'm wondering the same thing about the 7 speed 2wd. I want to put a lower mileage 2015 Q40 transmission on a 2013 sedan. Are these transmissions plug and play between different model years without having to reprogram the TCM? looked around the site and called some very reputable infiniti shops in socal and couldn't get a straight answer. I can and want to do the work myself but not if I have to reprogram anything. My car has a build date of 09/12.

I'd invest in the newer trans that comes with the VR30 motors. Stronger and seen several people do swaps on them. Not sure of the details but it's a pretty direct swap.

Hell yeah that’s definitely the way to go if you have a G. The Vr30 transmission is way better, shifts a lot smoother, and can take a beating. It’s Relatively easy to do, there a threads in here that’ll walk you through and also a YT video on it as well.

Yeah, I've known about that for a while. it's a nice option. I wouldn't say it's a direct swap. For a hard pull on a freeway on ramp here and there, the stock trans is plenty. I just want to keep it simple. Still looking for an answer.
