After Oil Change/Oil Cooler O-Ring Replacement, Serpentine Belt came loose.

I'll be brief. Yesterday I took my G37 coupe for an Oil Change and Oil Cooler O-Ring Replacement at the dealership and on my way back about 30 minutes later, I heard a sound in the front end area of the car and I completely lost power steering and AC started blowing hot air. The brake and battery light came up and I was able to drive to car to a safe place. Opened the hood and it appeared the serpentine belt came unloose.

Quick question, does the Oil Change and Oil Cooler O-Ring Replacement could have played a part with the serpentine belt coming loose? Do techs have to unbolt or mess with anything near to the serpentine belt parts?

Thanks

I do oil changes on my coupe without touching the belt. Easy as removing the plastic cover under the car, removing oil and filter, and re-adding everything. They probably did a quick inspection at other areas hence the loose belt.

@Antwone Seconded! Shouldnt be any other reason besides that unless there was something underlying that you or may not have noticed/fiddled around with?

A standard oil change should have nothing to do with the belt. HOWEVER, as OP stated that he had work done to the oil cooler, there is the possibility the tech working on the car monkeyed something up with the belt (unknowingly or accidentally) while he was in there.

I do not believe in coincidences. I would address this issue with the service manager at the dealership and have them make things right.
