Looking at the motordyne exhaust for our cars, I'm only noticing a resonator, and a helmholtz resonator on the end of each tail pipe. For now, until I save up for the motordyne, I'm trying to see what kind of possible custom exhaust for cheaper I can get to replicate motordynes sound. What kind of resonator is motordyne using? Or seeing as it's only a resonator and helmholtz plus variable exhaust diameter, what kins of resonator should I look into?

 

Magnaflow resonated X pipe is known to sound similar to the motordyne.
if you have a coupe you can order HKS replica and add a magnaflow resonated X pipe to it.

 

Guess I should be more specific, I do have a 2012 Vert. So not sure how fitment would be with an HKS replica. I will look into the resonated xpipe, so thank you for that suggestion. Would you have any suggestions on what kind of resonator/muffler (not exhaust) would give the closest to an "exotic" sound? Just trying to explore all options for a custom exhaust. Or maybe what do you think a resonated xpipe in place of factory resonators, and 2.5 inch pipe to muffler delete sound like?

I actually did e-mail both motordyne and Meisterschaft. Tony did reply and confirm that it is a resonated x pipe, with a straight thru design that has perforations and glass packing. So essentially like the resonated x pipe from magnaflow. Interesting they charge so much for it. Seems like a relatively simple design. I understand the R&D and quality must be paid for though.

Cheapest/best way to replicate Motordyne............buy a used one lol

 

Tony told me they use a resonated x pipe with glass packing and perforations through the pipe inside.. Literally what the resonated magnaflow x pipe is. Plus the two helmholtz resonators on the end and the gradually increasing 2.5 to 3 inch exhaust. Seems pretty straight forward to me.
