Happy Anniversary!
Happy Anniversary!
Ten years ago today, I bought my 6mt coupe. 66,000 miles and a decade later, it's as much fun to drive as it was heading home from the dealership.
I returned to the forum today not for a car problem, but because my iPod classic may be on its last legs. While it will play powered in the car, its battery doesn't have the juice to power it standing alone. Looking for alternatives to the out-of-production iPod, there are not many that allow full control of the music through the head unit. I may opt for a new battery and solid state memory installs for the iPod...

Think he means you got the most value for your money as the car has basically looked the same, but you were able to use it for the longest. Essentially a car in 08 that still looks like a 2015 (or whatever year they changed to the latest Q60 coupe body).
Well, I "fixed" my iPod problem. The hold switch had been partially engaged! Moved it to its normal position and all is well, at least until it really does quit working.
66,000 miles on the car and the only serious problem was a bad throw-out bearing in the transmission. That got me a new transmission installed overnight (with a loaner) under warranty, years ago.
I agree about the car aging well. In a decade of driving it's always looked like a "new" car, until the past year or two with the Q60 in production. Now, I guess it will look more like a "vintage" vehicle.

idk man. the 08 being the earliest are so cheap now. value is dropping quickly. if u bought it new and still have it you lost the most money lol

Almost every automotive purchase is a losing proposition. If you like the car after all these years and it's been fairly trouble-free, then you made a good purchase. That's a lot miles without payments.

I also bought my 08 coupe new 10 years ago. I now have 76K miles and it has been completely trouble-free minus a minor grinding noise in the motor of the moonroof that was replaced under warranty. I still love the car almost like the day I bought it. My new Acura Legend coupe that I drove in college has been relegated to my second favorite car that I've owned.

You're talking about a 10 year old car. How much value do you think a 10 year will retain in any make? I consider value from a car by dividing the price paid by the number of years of use minus cost for repairs. In other words cost per year.

Only in comparison to someone who bought the same car used, benefiting from the largest chunk of depreciation, and also kept it 10 years. But really, after 10 years new or used, it flattens out and just doesn't matter. The important thing here is the OP was sharing a happy moment, reflecting on 10 years of ownership with no regrets.
I'm almost 7 years into my 10 year plan, and hope to feel the same way as Lije Baley, if I make it to 10, knock on wood.
LOL. Tough guy.
