My G and me

Hey guys so about a year ago I purchased My 2009 g37s about a year ago and I love it got it for a steal price in Florida with the only issue being the rear spoiler needed to be painted, which has been done and looks great. When I purchased it I installed New rotors,Brakes and Painted the front grill black by a local body shop I use to work for I did all the prep work "sanding that chrome off that grill is a pain in the ***" a long with the OEM rims painted black The rims look amazing, done by a guy in myrtle beach"They just looked to good to replace with different rims". Unfortunately about 7 months ago was rear ended by a van and a week later the car went into limp mode and it was the dreaded rear timing seal gasket..Nissan said it wasn't due to the accident just bad timing "I'm still skeptical" so 2800$ Later she's all good and new. So that's all the fun I've had and experienced now after driving the car 25000 Miles I hit 70000 yesterday. I'm changing the spark plugs tomorrow, putting a K&N air filter in and from what I've been reading I should clean the intake manifolds and change the clutch fluid beyond that is there anything else you guys recommend to do. I really want this car to last as long as it can especially after the new paint job and a timing seal replacement . What is the best things I can do to make her happy things like should I change to synthetic oil and maybe mods that will benefit the car and not cause any extra wear or things like that.

-Thanks so much I'm happy and excited to be apart of this community and ill try to post some pictures asap

Welcome to the forum. I would definitely switch to synthetic oil at your next scheduled change.

Why?

Not required, not needed, and more expensive.
Buy the cheapest SAE 5w-30 on sale and change it every 4k miles

For those that pay someone else to change their oil, synthetic is the way to go. Extra cost of oil is more than made up by fewer trips to oil changer.

Been getting Pennzoil Platinum full synthetic for the last few years w/ $10 rebates, comes out cheaper than dino oil Last time I bought a couple they ended up being $15 per jug.

Yeah, I normally get the Castrol Synthetic and a filter for $30 if you look for the Oil Change specials. Been using synthetic in all my Euros for so long that I just automatically but it and if I go a little past 5k its not a problem. It's about $20 cheaper than changing it in my e46 (7 qts)

Several people on the 'net have tested synthetics in their cars using Blackstone and everyone of them proved the base stock is good for over ten thousand miles, usually more than 15k miles. It's the additive packages the are consumed over time, with 10k miles usually the point where it's time to change the oil.

BMWs used to (don't know if they still do) indicate oil change time by monitoring engine use and emissions controls condition, it was common to see 8k to 10k mile intervals.

Run 7500 and feel safe.

^Right here.

Set my reminder at 5k, knowing I won't get to it until 5,500-6,500 and know I'm good.

From: Framingham Ma,
I've been using redline synthetic for 3 years now , ever since I tried it and the damn valve tick/flapping was gone . I get it from Z1 and change mine every 3k, cost me about $100 , and dealer changes it for me, I want NO issues with my warranty and oil change receipts if anything happens

Our BMW X5 (2014 F15) is 1 year, 12k miles oil change interval. I have always used synthetic in everything I own and that's going back 40 years and I have NEVER ever had any engine issues (cars, boats, motorcycles, power equipment) or burning a drop of oil. That's why I stick with synthetic, I don't understand spending a good chunk of change on a vehicle then cheaping out on it's life blood.

I also use Redline oil. Previous owner used nothing but Redline and I’ve followed through with the same procedure. It’s really great (though quite on the pricey side) I order it from ecs tuning (11.95$ per quart) cheapest I’ve found so far with free shipping. Slap a Purolator One oil filter and you’re set!

Yes, you should have the clutch bleed. Fresh clutch fluid is thought to remove contaminants and reduce the likelihood of the clutch slave cylinder (csc) from failing--a somewhat common occurrence on the 6MT.

I'd also recommend having your brakes bleed at the same time if you haven't already done so.

If you're no longer under warranty, you can stretch your oil change intervals. If you still have warranty coverage, I'd stick to the manufacturers recommenced intervals.
