Finding an IPL

Looking for a Black G37 IPL 6MT and frustration abounds. It's amazing how many times a listing on the web says the car is an IPL, but it's obvious from the pictures that the car is just a base model.

Is there a way to tell from the VIN if a vehicle is an IPL model?

I've tried a number of VIN decoders and even on a true IPL model, there's nothing that indicates the car is an IPL.

Any assistance is appreciated.

I don't think theres anything in the VIN that would indicate an IPL model. It just tells you year, plant, country, model car, and whether its a coupe/sedan/etc. If you are looking at the car though besides the obvious bodykit and wheels, there would be ipl emblem on the engine cover, true dual exhaust, ipl floor mats, ipl stitched into the front seats, red stitching on the steering wheel and either red stitching or monaco red seats.

All true, but remember not all of them have the floor mats, and the IPL emblem stitched into the front seats will only be there for 2013 models and up. Before that they had the standard Infiniti logo.

^ My car came with no floor mats. And my red stitched seats do not have IPL emblem on them.

I can sympathize, I drive 6ish hours to North Carolina to look at one listed as an IPL when it wasn't. I will say though the 2011 model doesn't have IPL on the seat covers or floor mats, but the badge and engine cover have it.

Didn't know enough at the time. The price was similar to a sport I was looking at closer to me but the sport was red with beige interior which I don't like. The guy in NC that I was talking to was a douche though so I'm glad that sale didn't work out. Ended up finding an actual IPL at a used car lot where I live which defies all odds.

Here's a pretty clean 14' Q60 IPL with 18k miles

Are you 100% set on black? A IPL is hard to find. A 6MT is even more restrictive. A black IPL 6MT is an even narrower field

Is Black Obsidian rarer than Malbec? Or did the IPLs only come in Malbec?

Only IPLs had Malbec but they originally were only Obsidian and Malbec. Newer ones had a few different colors.

Malbec was only available on the IPL? Interesting it wasn't available on the other coupe models since it was available on the sedan.

Actually I think I was mistaken from reading something else. Looks like a lot more can have Malbec Black.
