Performance Question (g37)

Hey Guys, so i have a quick question and was always wondering what was the answer to this..

I was looking to get any year/ any model of the G37..(not referring to any Q models, just any year or make/ models of the 37.. Out of all the years and models/makes the 37 has, which performance wise is the strongest?

AND...

What are the top 5 fastest stock models for the G35 and G37? please list the year and make..

The differences between different models of G37 aren't all that pronounced. The biggest difference in the ones I have driven was the quick ratio steering rack found on the sport models. As far as straight line goes I think they are all within a couple 10ths of a second in 0-60.

Can't speak about the G35, but it would surprise me if the same weren't true for them.

They're all within drivers' error of each other

I'd look at a 2012 or newer though since the pre 2012 models have an inferior oil gallery gasket that costs over $2k to R&R.

There's no more questions/answers here...it's the same engine between all models. Some weigh more or less. Google is your friend.

Most likely, a 2011-2013 G37 IPL is going to be quickest. But not by much. Maybe the AWD Sport too but that has even more weight and less choices when it comes to suspension parts.

And you used an instrument to measure the difference, correct? There's no reason it'd be faster other than the health of the two cars in question. The IPL makes an additional 18 hp over the Sport, 348 total. It has a true dual exhaust which, along with different tuning, accounts for the difference.

2011 Infiniti IPL G Coupe Test ? Review ? Car and Driver

The IPL’s 18 extra hp give it only the slimmest straight-line edge, with the car posting a 0-to-60-mph time of 5.4 seconds, actually 0.1 second behind the best time we’ve seen from a G37S coupe. Both post identical 13.9-second quarter-mile times, and the IPL is quicker to 90 mph and every 10-mph increment thereafter—although only barely. Its lead at 130 mph is 0.7 second

2009 Infiniti G37 Sport Sedan - Short Take Road Test - Car Reviews - Car and Driver

The 6mt sedan was slightly faster to 60, 100, and in the quarter, with the IPL edging it out by 0.3 to 130

Production tolerances likely have more to do with the variance than the actual trim or transmission configuration.

Or ambient temps/testing conditions. Really nothing in it. The fastest G37 iteration is the one with forced induction attached.

FWIW, Car & Driver corrects their acceleration times to a standard day at sea level, so it should be a pretty apples-to-apples comparison.

a 1/10 of a second here, or even 3/10 to 120 isn't something you're going to notice on a street driven car. For the OP, I'd find the best condition, lowest mileage G in your price range and go for that, there isn't any configuration that offers measurably stronger performance than another.

Agreed. Due to such small differences, your best bet is find the strongest example possible. Cars with age will have differences in stock HP numbers based on care that has been taken for the engine and transmission. These are not brand new cars, so the numbers they used to make really doesnt matter much.

2012 S model or later with decent mileage and mod from there if you plan on adding performance in the future. Save the extra money you would spend on an IPL to make your car even faster than that from stock. Unless you want all the bells and whistles the IPL offers.
