^^Really.... @Mid 40's that's a sweet ride.

I had an epiphany the other day. Came to the realization the next car will most likely be an auto. I just don't care enough any more to shift gears. How things change as one gets older...

 

If you're not making the switch anytime soon, I'm down to meet up and you can test out my G, which probably has the least forgiving transmission. If you can ride smoothly in a G, any other car will be a breeze.

 

That would actually be amazing dude, thanks for the offer. I was actually looking up online yesterday classes to learn manual. Found a few that are pretty affordable that I was going to hit up but I would definitely take you up on this if you've got some time. Maybe we can hit the gym afterwards?

WOW I'll have to check that out. I've liked those cars for awhile but just figured they would be way out of my price range. Definitely worth a look.

 

I did quite a bit of research on Camaro and Mustang platforms before buying the G. The LS motors are great - no denying that and there is a lot of mods that can be done from simple exhausts to cam swaps but the Coyote seemed to have more tap-able power for less. The new Coyote motors are pretty awesome compared to what was being put out before. Plus, it's worth noting that the ECU has fuel maps for the different grades of fuel.....aka you can run regular at the cost of HP without putting the engine at risk. If a Camaro is on the board, the ZL1 is the way to go, I wouldn't even consider the SS. The new ones are believed to be more nimble than the GT350 around the track.

I agree with whoever said the SS had the sleeper look going on. That's a good look to have and the interior is an upgrade compared to the Camaro. Plus, I believe the SS will have the same appeal as a G8 GXP - Highly sought after if the car is discontinued.

The RS has too much of the boy-racer look for me.

 

Don't worry about learing stick on the SS. I had a 6sp 2006 GTO and the LS2 V8 so torqy it's pretty hard to stall it out. It's easier to learn stick on that type of engine vs a 4 cycl beater IMO.

 

Well if you want an SS, They are not making them past this year. And the manual trans is harder to find. I think they are great looking inside and out so you can't go wrong with one.

 

2 things you said caught my attention that I haven't noticed anyone comment on yet:

1. You deal with a "large amount of traffic" every day. Depending on your definition of "large amount of traffic", being in a manual and crawling along in rush hour traffic for a couple hours every single day can (and will) get old really quick. I have a 6mt and getting stuck in crawling traffic for extended periods of time sucks.

2. Your G is paid for. Don't underestimate the value of not having a car payment!

Just things to consider.
But I totally understand the itch to get a new ride. We're all "car guys" after all! lol

speaking as someone who came from a Mustang GT with stick shift to a 2009 G37X sedan with 7 speed auto, I don't miss it. The handling and power of the G37 is just superior in all ways to the Mustang. The only thing I miss is the sound of the engine.

 

There's something wrong with the mustang if a X sedan on 17" wheels has superior handling

 

Rear solid axle isn't ideal for everyday streets...

No camber adjusting which attributes to a lot of body roll. On a track or strip, the Solid rear is awesome - can really grip and rip, hit a divet in the road on a public street going 80 though can make one pucker.

If I could upgrade from my G for a v8, I'd probably get a camaro ss or zl1, gt500 or gt350, c63 amg, m5, rs4, or a isf. Not a huge fan of Dodges due to their handling characteristics
