Normal on Engine?
So I did a more thorough check and there is a slight leak from the engine valve cover gasket. However its not enough to warrant a repair at this time. My plan of action right now is to observe and repair it only when necessary.
In the event a repair is needed in the future, what is a fair price to pay for parts and labor?
Infiniti dealer quoted $1000 for parts and labor (Obviously not paying this).
Private mechanic quoted about $350-$400.
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance.

A leaky valve cover gasket is not serious at all. Sure, it doesn't look pretty but until you are dripping oil, let it ride.
As for pricing, I NEVER take my car to the dealer unless its warranty work. They specialize in selling cars, NOT maintaining them, hence the huge prices. The only good thing about a dealer doing repairs is you'll likely get a loaner car while yours is up on the lift. If you don't fix it yourself, I would absolutely let a side mechanic do the repairs, its not too in depth so they should have it done in 2-3 hours if they are on the ball.
