Airbag reset??

So my car's airbag light is always on. Solid, not blinking. The shop I bought the car from told me that when the airbags in our cars go off, you can't just replace the airbags and you're good to go. Apparently, the airbag computer/system or something must be reset for them to function properly again. And apparently he shadily and cheaply failed to do that crucial step. He told me he's only legally required to put airbags in the car.. ****..

He's telling me that he can do the reset because he has the needed computer but it's going to cost me $80, not for labor, but for a one time use license fee or something; kind of like using a tune..

To me that doesn't sound right; if he has the computer, then he should be able to do it as many times as he pleases. But if that was the case, I feel like he would have done it. Do you guys know anything about this process and are able to chime in? Thanks

You should have the air bag issue resolved prior to purchase.
Was you vehicle ever involved in a flood?

A quick google brought this up.

From reading comments it looks to have worked for both blinking and solid light.

If any

of your airbags have been deployed you need to replace the sensors and the airbags that deployed you need to have someone read your codes for you replace what's missing/broken then reset.

in the event of airbag deployment expended airbags, restraints with pretensioners that were buckled in, and the srs control unit would need to be replaced for proper repair after collision.
