Omg finallyyyy
Omg finallyyyy
After 2 1/2 years and thousands of dollars ( i mean, i spent so much i could have bought a 2017 off the lot cash) my baby finally lives. Now all she needs is a paint job and a new monitor for the navigation and the window switches. Does anyone know where I can find these things without having to go to the dealership
Color me creepy, but I had to scope out your post history to catch myself up. Thought you just bought this recently or something. Why not go with a Z1 built motor? Everything else is new right? Assume you have the transmission refurbished or bought slightly used or new.
Here's one from Automotix for roughly 2 grand with 24K miles
2012 Infiniti G37 Engine, Gas Engine, (VQ37VHR), AWD, from 9/11 | B119218690G, $2,138.00, FREE Shipping, 300-77237G, (Jackson, Mississippi)
Not sure what your budget is but gives you an idea.
Edit: Here is a link for a manual

From what I can tell through skimming his post history, OP bought a G37 from an auction. The G37 in question, is from New Orleans and received a free car wash courtesy of hurricane Sandy. OP got the car for a great price, given its history, and has been rebuilding it ever since. Sounded like he has it up and running and I thought he said new motor but now looking back he might mean the actual window motors.
Well, this is what happened, like RMB5190 said, i bought the car here in Memphis from an auction from a guy who said that the only thing he knew was wrong with the car was that the transmission was seized on it and needed to be fixed so i said okay and went on and bought it. the car crank and and i knew it needed some work so i figured it would be something to do. So I took it to Infiniti to get the run down on what needed to be done etc. and they told me the engine had water in it, first red flag, and they said they couldn't get it in the shop because the wheels would not move.
So I got it from there and took it to who i thought was a professional and let him start to work on it. I replaced the motor and the transmission and things looked promising the only thing i had left to get done was the radiator and the starter. well at least i thought. SO ..... they had the car back together and for some reason the car stopped starting and needed to be boosted off because the car was not going in sleep mode for some undetermined reason and i bought a new BCU and BCM. that didn't work.
After tinkering around a little more they had the car running again and butttttt the wiring harness decided to catch fire and fry the whole freaking thing.......FML....... so guess what the engine and everything had to come out again the get the whole car rewired and put BACK together ( imagine my frustration at this point because at this point it has been a year). So i finally have my car towed home because not the started wasn't getting power and found out the ECM I bought was not the right one. I bite the bullet and took it back to the dealership and bought the ECU from them and got a new starter which now had the car starting but it was not drive-able because i still needed the radiator cooling fan, new tires, tie rods, AWD module, power steering module, a/c blower motor, drive shaft, socket kit, stabilizer assembly, joint assembly, rod assembly c/v axles, and so on then come to find out the dash harness i bought was wrong because the ******* at the salvage yard sent me the wrong thing even after i made him verify the part number he had matched the one from the dealership, so i had to buy another one, this is now the two year mark. So now just last week i finally got every thing done and now the car is drive-able and the first thing i did was replace the old wheels with some 20" Vossen VFS 2's. I need to find the stereo amp so that i can have sound from the radio and i need to replace the screen for the navigation, I need to get the window switches and i think that will be it for not until i get it painted and lowered lol. So all and all i estimate that i spent at least close to $25-$30,000 rebuilding this car. I think i'm going to claim it as a child on my taxes lol

LOL holy cow man. What a wild ride. I'm glad to see you got it up and running and can finally enjoy the car. Did you decide to build the transmission or engine anyways? how did you go about tackling that?

Geeeezz.....that's crazy! You stuck with it, which is honorable. Think I would've thrown in the towel months ago.
As far as the window switches go, check ebay. I've seen several on there while looking for certain parts for my car.
Good luck

Thanks guys, as far as the engine and Transmission, i just called Automotix and bought both from them for $3600. Only had 53,000 miles on them verses paying close to $12,000 at the dealership
Wow, what an adventure you went through. I am glad that it all worked out in the end. You must be really happy to see that all came together. Right now my G37 Coupe (2008) sitting in a lot with a broken engine. I threw a rod a month and a half ago, and saving up for a used engine. Can you tell me what model year engine you swapped with yours? I found an engine that I am hoping that it will swap without a problem. Donor car is a 2014 Q50 Sedan RWD with AT. So far I've been told that any VQ37HVR will swap just fine as long as is the same transmission and drive train. As far as the engine swap, do you think I need to get other components from the donor car? Everything else in my car works flawlessly. Do you have any recommendations about the engine swap procedure?
Any input will be appreciated!
