I actually see more Gs in my area than Mustangs; which is really hard to do. I live in a pretty "country-ish" area as well so it's quite a feat. But with anything, make it your own and it can be as unique as a Koenigsegg

 

I think ford solved the transmission issue on late 14's so you should be in the clear! Awesome car and a little jealous!

They kind of did that with the fox body and SN-95. It was a really love it or hate it body style. I personally do not like the fox body where some enthusiasts love it. The SN-95 was pretty bad in my eyes as well. The S-197 was when they brought the retro look back and I have to say, it's the first appealing Mustang body since the early 70's. A lot of older generations also loved it for the nostalgia it brought on. I think they have moved onto a more conventional look with the latest model but I like that they have stayed true to the classic design and have made it more refined and angled. They change it too much then they lose a very large customer base(60-70 generation). Maybe in another 10-20 years they will revamp it or slowly change its appearance as they are now but that's a conclusion I can understand. I can't see Ford killing the Mustang and bringing it back out of hibernation with a revamp also like the NSX or Supra either.

 

This. There are ten 5.0's for every one of any other sports car out there so no matter what you do, its been done before lol. BUTTTT I do love how they look. So sinister.

 

id never buy american for the simple fact that its used as rentals and all over the place. i dont care wat trim u have the outside looks basically the same as the guy next to u. wats the fun in owning that?

 

Really no different than 90% of the other cars out there...Again, Gs are not a special snowflake in stock form. You can absolutely mod and have a unique vehicle. That body model JUST came out. If you do some cosmetic enhancements outside of a spoiler or racing stripe (Obviously there will be a ton of these) then you can stand out from the crowd.

Telling me you would never consider a GT350 or a Chevy ZL1 because it's American and American cars are popular rental cars? Cmon man...

Gs are extremely popular around me to the point it's sickening. That being said I've yet to see any modded Gs so mine stands out with a simple de-badge and vinyl job.

Yes, still offered on most models from factory....this isn't new. Can look o.k. if done tastefully. Personally not a fan but like I said, it's a factory option that doesn't exactly set you apart from the crowd.

Are Mustangs common? Sure. Then again so are Gs. Again....all in what you do with it to make yourself stand out. Both cars may be common but I can appreciate if either or is tastefully modded.

I'd say it held its value compared to my "luxury" vehicle. That car is rare and gorgeous (notice the racing stripe) and as an enthusiast - I'd be able to tell what you were rolling in compared to a V6 or 5.0.

From Hawaii? There's only 700,000 cars total in that state (guesstimate). Ford Mustang is a convertible that is easily obtained and a low price.....what else would you drive in Hawaii if you were a tourist..? Would you swear off G37s if all that was there were G37 verts?

Love my car and there's a reason I chose it. That being said, I wouldn't look down my nose at someone else's vehicle or try to de-value it in some way just because it wasn't the one I went with. Not sure if that's the intention, but it's coming across as such.

 

yes if the g was used as a tourist rental i would get rid of my car asap and get something else. now when u say gs are common are u talking about all g's, g sedan g35 coupe or g37 coupe? im talking g37 coupe.

 

so that 07 gt500 cost $26k. a low mileage 08 g37 coupe would fetch close $20k with a lot less performance than that mustang. u can call it a gt500 ima call it a mustang. like the kid in the neon who only wants his car to be an srt4. to me its a damn neon. but yes that mustang has great performance.

 

Lol not sure I can follow that mindset man. If I like the car, I'm getting it and transforming it to separate from the pack. When I reference "Gs" I'm speaking about the G37 coupe and Sedan. Very common in Bethesda/DC/VA area. 35s are actually much rarer in my opinion and I like when I'm able to spot them driving around my home. There's one that is VERY nicely done and looks & sounds awesome.. Saw it for the first time about 3 weeks ago and have spotted him once more since.

 

Every area is different but yes, Mustangs are soooooo common in the midwest. There's almost as many Mustangs as there are lifted trucks. When you say they "just" came out you mean they've been out for 3+ years, right? Don't get me wrong, I think they look great and have huge respect for the power that can be had with bolt-ons and a tune, but I don't like to be like everyone. I know of ONE other G37 coupe in Springfield MO with mods. All the rest are sedan daily drivers or G35's.. There are practically no coupes anywhere here.

 

yes g sedans are common g37 coupe not so much imo. and yes thats my mindset lol. i had such a hard time finding a g37 coupe manual i had to ship mine from north carolina lol. the few g37 coupes here theyre all automatics like 99%

 

The S-197 debuted in 2004/5.....that's over a 10 year run lol. I would agree that it's dependent on the demographic. As for its popularity, there's a lot of stuff you can do to stand out and make something "yours". Mazda 3s are a very common car. I picked one up when I was in college and modded that poor thing until it was unrecognizable at first glance. De-badged, Halos, AM HIDS, Sharkfin antennae to replace the buggie whip, rims, lowered, removed the pin stripping, Motor mounts (mine exploded), Intake, advanced timing and maybe one or two more that I can't remember. Sure stood out compared to the rest; but I get what you're saying.

Personally would love to own a GT350 down the road. Absolutely gorgeous car and a perfect blend of performance, handling, aesthetics, and the interior is to my liking. Definitely going to shoot for it when the time comes. Then again, the new GT500 is set to release in 2018
