When screw go round and round...

I am having trouble removing my rear license plate. The problem is one of the screws that holds the plate just goes round and round. What options do I have now? Is there a DIY or a you? Is there a youtube step by step on how to remove a lose screw that just go round and round?

Dealer wants $74 and I am not about to pay that.

Thanks.

Is there any way you can get a screwdriver or small pry bar behind the plate and apply outward pressure on the slipping screw as you're turning the screw w/ your other hand? Sometimes that's all it takes to get it going. And be sure if you try this to put a protective towel or some painters tape between the bumper and your pry tool.

i had the same thing happen. pain in the ***. one of the retainers on the back of the plate broke free of the bracket and was just spinning. i pried the bottom of the plate forward enough to get a wrench back there (or pliers? i don't recall. it was a couple years ago) to hold the nut while i turned the bolt from the front. then putting it back i used a small strip of duct tape to hold a new nut with an integrated lock washer (hardware store) in place then gently screwed the plate back in. once the bolt catches the nut you can pull forward on it so the lock washer catches and doesn't let the nut turn as you're tightening up the bolt.
clear as mud? lol
good luck!

Mine did too. I got one side off and the plate swung down out of the way. Mine was easy enough to grab the bracket in the back by hand and unscrew with the other.
