Horrible noise coming when I turn my wheel *video*

Long story short I took my car out Sunday morning and started hearing a clunking noise when leaving my driveway (cutting wheel). Went for a right on the highway and didn't hear a thing until I parked.. Hearing a metal and plastic pulling, clunking noise whenever you turn the wheel. Attached a video of the car being parked.
Any thoughts? I'm bringing it into the dealer tomorrow.

Hard to tell with my phone speaker but I would guess a broken end link, loose ball joint or control arm nut/bolt.. Could easily rule out most of it by tapping on some things with a rubber dead blow hammer.

It sounds like the control arm or a end link. Just get under it smack it with a rubber malet and it should recreate the sound.

You can get a used axle for $125. It takes under an hour to change it and it is not difficult at all.

Yes, as I sorta indicated earlier albeit not very clearly apparently. You can pay $100 to tow it to the nearest moderately competent shop, buy parts, pay labor and still save at least $500 off of that price.

That's true..seems like a headache. Anyone know of an Indy shop in north nj? When I had my 335 there were plenty of shops that only dealt with BMWs and charged a lot less than the stealership. My patiences run out with this car it's a never ending problem.

So are you AWD then? I love how they acted like the car was about to explode to scare you into getting it done. With the right tools its an hour or 2 tops and really straight forward. The dealership is taking advantage of you not knowing your own car and bending you over. I would do it for ya in my driveway for $100, super easy.

Go figure... Guess it was just impulse. The part alone they gave me a print out is $895.. Is there anything that could have caused this?

It could possibly be something that struck the suspension parts and caused damage, but not necessarily. Sometime parts fail when they're not supposed to.

$895 is highway robbery for a CV axle. Usually when necessary they are rebuilt or you replace it with a rebuilt one. $100-$150. Also $500 for the labor for a 1 to 1.5 hour job MAX is criminal. At least you know where your money is going. Call any axle shop in your town and ask them how much for front axle replacement on your car. Most here in Houston would do both sides for $400 or less. Even mobile mechanics that come to your house or work.

A lot of us have the will, the skill, and the time to DIY something relatively simple like this but I understand that not everyone is so fortunate. This is why so many hate dealerships.

Wow thanks for the inside. I actually called to stop the repair. Luckily the part did not come in as planned and for now the work is on hold. I'm looking into other options as I will need to bring the loaner back within a day or two. I'm in north NJ anyone know of a shop?
