Repainted Bumper. Need opinions.

So I had a shop fix my fender scrape and the bumper scrape on the drivers side.

I paid extra, above insurance, to have them refinish the entire bumper (remove license plate holes, fix rock chips and damage from scraping).

I am NOT happy with the color matching on the bumper. I think they matched the driver side fender fine, it looks good to me.

They have agreed to take back the car and fix it.

Their solution currently is to take the passenger side fender (which has a small ding from the previous owner) and repair it and paint it so the match looks more uniform.

I need opinions on the bumper. Should I demand they repaint the bumper cover or do you think that refinishing and blending the passenger fender will do the trick.

Repaints will never match perfect, especially when comparing plastic to metal. If they blend it into the fender you shouldn't be able to see any difference.

that's a terrible match. the only reason the drivers side looks ok is that the color is blended into the fender. the part they didn't blend above the headlight doesn't match either. the only way you're going to have a reasonable match is to paint the entire cover and blend into the hood and both fenders. either that or they should go for a darker variance on the paint code. if you speak with them, ask them specifically if there is a darker variance available for this color. you'll sound like someone who knows about paint.

Yeah... thats absolute bull****. Its like 4 shades different. Its also a single stage gloss paint.

I had a metallic silver on my GTI and did a Euro bumper swap, the paint work was flawless. Matched perfectly. Metallic paint is 100% harder to match than straight gloss.

I have another appointment on Monday the 30th and have, in writing a promise from the shops GM to fix this. I emailed him today and explained that after looking at it in different lighting last night and today its just way too far off.

I told him I want the bumper re painted, again, and this time they need to tint the color a bit darker. Im 99% sure they used the same color mix on the fender and bumper and when they added the flex additive along with it just being plastic it came out brighter.

They're working with me on it and have me hooked up with a rental so Im not super worried now.

Can you honestly not see the paint difference between the bumper and everything else?

Here, this picture shows it better:

The difference is really noticeable. I would also demand to repaint the bumper to get a perfect color match.

Figured. All my friends said the same. I told the shop I want it re painted and they need to figure out a way to tint their paint darker.

Holy ****. I could tell there was a difference but it didn't look as bad to me until I saw this. My jaw dropped. I'd be pissed too. Hope it all works out man.

Right?? I walked up to the shop and saw my car from a distance and as I got closer I just got angry.

I walked inside after taking a picture and the receptionist greeted me...

I said "Im here to pick up my car, but, I'm not sure I want it back" and then I showed her the picture and she got me the shop manager.
