Solar Gard Ultra Performance Tint review - Garbage!

Solar Gard Ultra Performance Tint installed on a 2015 Q60 Coupe. Find them at Ultra Performance

Front: 30%
Rear: 20%
Back: 20%

Material?? Have no idea. Shop says ceramic, Solar Gard says not ceramic.

Clarity? Pretty bad! Especially in direct sunlight... See the haze? And these are just photos. Imagine how bad it is in real life!

Tint has been installed for about 1 month now.

Here is another shot at around 3pm...

Truck blocking the sun. Not to much hazing.

This is what they call "Ultra Performance offers industry leading film clarity for unaltered visibility and safe driving." And I cleaned the windows on both side today.

For the price I paid: $460 installed. Compared to other Ceramics I've dealt with, this Ultra Performance line is a huge disappointment. Definitely not worth what I paid for it. I wouldn't even have it on my car if it was free. The haze effect you get during the day is annoying!

Out of 5 stars. I give the tint itself a 1 out of 5.

And if you look at the photos, you too would have to agree. Stay away from the Ultra Performance tints! It's garbage.

I stopped by the guys shop the other day, and he will still claiming it was Ceramic. Even after I called Solar Gard who says that it is not ceramic. The rep also claimed that the haze shouldn't be there. Interesting.

I would just get your car tinted from a reputable tint shop. My friend owns an automotive customizing shop and installed 3M tint, 35% Front, 20% rear windows for $170, No complaints.

3M isn't really considered a top tint in some circles.

I will probably request a refund. I finally got a hold of the rep from Solar Gard. He is going to call the tint shop to inform them to stop promoting the Ultra Performance line as Ceramic.

I will probably request a refund and have Huper Optik installed.

I paid $460 for this fake Ceramic Tint.

Huper Optik is only $15 more installed. I will probably be out a lot more since they have to remove the fake ceramic tint.

If they refuse, let them know you have no other choice than to file a BBB claim and pursue legal action for false advertising. Do you have it in writing that they are saying it's ceramic? In only verbal, legal action probably won't hold up but it's worth a try.

Nope. On the invoice, all it says is "Ultra". The ceramic part was verbal. But the good thing is, Solar Gard doesn't make Ceramic. And the shop only installs Solar Gard tints.

Yet, their yelp reviews has several people saying they had "ceramic" installed.

So it's a small chance it might be worth it in court. We'll see what they say after they talk to the Manufacturer.

I was very happy when I installed Formula One pinnacle in my 2009 fit. Of course that was 6 years ago, but except for Huper Optik there really is no better ceramic tint to this day. Back in the day and costed me 400 for the pinnacle and I had to go to Delaware 65 miles away twice, because the installer wasn't worth a damn, but that's really not the fault of the tint itself. Good luck on that refund and getting where you need to be.

By the way, if you go formula 1 make sure you get the National warranty certificate from the installer when you conclude the transaction, as any dealer in the nation will work on it if you have a problem
