Wrecked :'(

Hey guys/gals, I got into a wreck this weekend. In avoiding a large cat/small dog, I swerved, hopped the curb and hit a tree. Car drove to the nearest parking lot fine, no fluid leaking, and no temperature issues. Since this is all I can think of now, I was hoping someone could help me guesstimate how expensive this may be. Its a 2013 g37s, which according to KBB.com is valued around $25k. I hope it isn't totaled, as i still owe around $25k on the car and my rainy day fund is nonexistent. From what my untrained eye can tell, its just the bumper, reinforcement bar, hood, and two front fenders that will need to be replaced. However, I was unable to open the hood to see the extent of the damage inside. Thanks for the help!

I guess i should have mentioned it lol, i do yes. I know they'll take care of it, and I've been with Geico for many years without so much as a doubt about how they treat their customers. However, the adjuster said he might not be able to make it out until Wednesday and i wanted to see if anyone here would know if it may be totaled? Ive never totaled a car so i don't really know what to look for. I know that if the cost to repair is ~60% of the value, they total it. So i guess i answered my own question because that can't be $15k worth of damage right?

Either headlight lense cracked? I'd guess in the high teens, if there's much more damage under the hood it'll probably be a write off. If the crash bar was pushed into the rad/condenser you'll be replacing those, as well as the supports and brackets for them as well.

The headlights are not cracked. I think the bar did push back the radiator but not by much. Speculating is just going to stress me out lol. *sigh*

It's great that you walked away from this. Did the airbag(s) deploy?

Insurance is funny in how they classify these incidents. I believe these types of incidents fall under collision coverage. If you had hit the animal, damages resulting from such would be under comprehensive coverage. It's a tough split second decision deciding whether to swerve or hit the animal. Good luck.

Unless there is significant hidden damage I don't think your car is totaled.

It shouldn't be totaled assuming no air bag deploy.

it wont be totaled.. the damage would have to exceed a certain percentage..
and I don't believe this much damage has done that.. .good that youre ok
look at it this way... you can now work with your shop to get you the front end you want

G/L w/ your situation, hopefully you'll be back on the road and looking like new in short order. Glad to hear no injuries.

The driver airbag did deploy. From what I've read, the Driver airbag isn't as costly as the passenger/side/seat airbags. So here's hoping that the cost of that doesn't push it over the percentage Geico totals your car off for (I've read in Texas that is 60%).

My previous 2010 G37s vert was in a similar accident...it ran around $14,000 to repair the front end...it was a 15mph accident, driver's airbag deployed. Be on the repair shop to make sure they did it right, Las Vegas Infiniti screwed mine up! Oh well, I got a new one....

Damn that sux. Glad you are ok. Stay on top of the insurance company...they are notorious for low balling and giving sub par "replacement" products. Stand firm with what you want otherwise you wont be happy. Good luck!
