IPL Exhaust

Hi guys. I was thinking of upgrading the exhaust on my 2010 G37S. I was at the dealership getting the wife's car looked at and the service guy said I should just put the IPL exhaust on and I would get the same results as a aftermarket cat back exhaust. Does the IPL exhaust sound that much better? The dealership wants $1200 for the IPL exhaust.

You could get a much better exhaust for that kind of money or just a little more. $1200 for a stock exhaust is ridiculous to me... If you want just a little more sound try tanabe or ark grip.... If you want more power and aggressive mean sounding, go with GTHaus Miesterschaft, or Motordyne E370

Wow...$1200 is way too much IMO. I have an IPL and I wouldn't even upgrade to the IPL exhaust if I was in your position. For around that much I would go with something like ARK cat back. Many of the forum members also chose to go with Motordyne E370.

Thanks for the info guys. I think I'm just not going to do the exhaust right now. As I still owe money on the car and the dealership said if I put a cat back exhaust on it would void my warranty.

To quote Ian Malcolm... That is one big pile of ****.

But I respect your decision to hold off for other reasons.

So would it also void warranty if you added an Axle Back? Just wondering.

Thanks

I don't see how it would void your warranty if the same exhaust comes with the IPL version lol

Anyways I would rock it If you can get it used, 2.5 true dual exhaust goodness ^_^

Good choice to wait on mods until you own the car outright.

Personally, I can see why you'd want to go with an IPL exhaust. I don't want something overly loud and too over the top looking. From what I've heard and read, the optional Sport exhaust and IPL exhaust are both a slight bump up in volume overall, but still quite livable and reasonable.

I've got a used IPL exhaust if you're interested. ~$600 plus shipping and it's yours.

Infiniti sport accessory muffler. Easy install, OEM part with no affect on warranty, deeper tone, reasonable price (about $533 + tax and/or shipping) after using the SESTORE2015 coupon code.

Tanabe axle back for $400-600. That's what I'd do (and did)

I've never seen a new coupe Tanabe axle back exhaust in the $400-600 range, where did you get it from for that price? The best I have seen is about $693.

Oh way back in the olden days when prices were still sane, a pair of genuine Tanabe mufflers could be had for roughly $400. And I thought THAT was expensive! But since everyone ran to get one once they become very popular, the price went up. Supply and Demand, sir.

So how is that helpful for someone asking a question about buying an exhaust in the current market...
