New to the G family, started with a simple Plasti-Dip job.

Well I've been lurking on this forum for a few days and decided to finally make an account and introduce myself. I recently got my 2008 G37 about two months ago and I've kinda dove head first into the community. I've been researching what to mod and I have a lot of ideas but I wanted to start off simple, so here's a few photos from my plasti-dip job.

I didn't have a place to do this at my house so I went to my sisters place who is also a car person along with her boyfriend Austin. He helped me do this since he's had experience with Plasti Dip before and this was my first time. We applied four/five coats on each rim. We used a heat gun to help speed up the dryig process. We also used the heat gun to remove the annoying dealer decal sticker from the back of the car.

I didn't want to go through the hassle of completely removing the grille so we taped it off. We removed the plastic piece from under the hood to put some cardboard behind the grille to protect the radiator.

I'm pretty happy with the result. I decided to keep the logo's in the center of the rims/grille silver so that it still stood out. I didn't even really notice the black accent under my side mirrors until we were done, but it makes everything flow better.

They both own Miata's and Austin also has a Mustang. We're definitely a car family.

Nice intro, welcome to the site & glad you found us.
Looks like you did a nice job w/ the Dip. FWIW it's real easy to remove the grill and the center grill logo snaps off real easy if you ever want to paint it down the road or need to re-dip. Wheels look good w/ the chrome cap & lug nuts, I think I'd eventually powdercoat or paint them but the Dip is a good tool to see how various trim colors will look.
Enjoy your ride and good luck trying to fight off the mod bug

I didn't know the logo snapped off, that'll definitely come in handy. I had to get a new tire already so I have to re-dip one of the rims but powdercoating definitely sounds like a good idea. Next thing I'm going to do is dip the spoiler and do a night shade on the tail lights. Only problem is I don't know how to take off those two annoying plastic clips on the trunk liner under the spoiler. Most of them just pop out but the two middle ones have some weird lock on them.

Here's a couple good taillight DIYs, the second one really is a nice look. As far as the trunk liner clips, you just have to twist those bigger ones w/ pliers IIRC.
