As the title says, I bought an OEM spoiler from the junkyard and I asked if the dealership to install it but they said when you buy a new spoiler it comes with the template but since I don't have that, they will not install it. Is there a PDF file or somewhere I can buy that from?

 

Ah ... another spoiler post. Do a search and you will find the OEM spoiler kit contains more than the template. Besides that there is the gromets you need for the newly drilled holes in the trunk, new stronger trunk struts, new trunk lid bumpers, wiring harness.

 

I was in the same position as you last week. My dealer probably threw away the instructions and template as I planned to pass it on to a member. I'm assuming you just have the spoiler if so you'll need the grommet (0155309621), spoiler clip (0155304631 or 0155306521) and of course the template and instructions. If you have the back-up camera I can't help you there but you'll need the sub-harness and some screws if you do. My dealer provided the rust preventative and M5 screws.

I'll double check with them and see if they still have it or some spares but can't promise anything really. The sedan has a kit for purchase but not that coupe. Messed up right?

 

I don't have the spoiler kit because I'm not spending $700 for some plastic molding, I have all the pieces and harnesses, it came off another g37 coupe. I was just looking to see if anyone had an extra template or if there was one online.

Oh, didn't know you had the the pieces and harness. But you'll just need two grommets and two spoiler clips. Just get the template and instructions and the stealership should do it for $240. And my technician threw away the template and instructions unfortunately.

 

Would have helped if you mentioned you had all the parts except the template. Most templates get tossed after installation, if they are saved they will have the spots for the holes drilled out. If the installer drilled to the largest size with the template in place it's gonna be pretty gooberd up.

 

By "all the pieces" what do you mean? Am I missing something?

 

From memory the kit comes with:

• Instructions
• Drilling/placement template.
• Female grommets that go into the newly drilled holes in the trunk (2 or 4, can't remember)
• Wiring harness
• New trunk lid closure bumpers
• New stronger trunk lid struts
• There also may be a few more nuts & bolts, I know you re-use some from the chrome lip

But you said above fairly emphatically that you had all the pieces other than the template.

 

Hmmm looks like I am only missing the trunk lid closure bumpers and template. What's the reason for new trunk lid closure bumpers?

 

Not really sure to be honest with you. I swapped them out but don't know why really. Certainly not a deal breaker if you don't have them.

 

Someone should make a copy of that damn template.

 

Yes to what 2008G-Man said. The trunk lid closure bumpers are optional. The only mandatory thing really are the grommets, clips and template (if you don't have the rear view camera). I'm also in favor of making a copy of the template.
