i know i know its been asked a million times but im asking this question in a different manner then the rest. my question is that the g37s seems to be hard to find in my area and the ones i do find comparable to journey models have double the miles and cost the same if not more. So heres my question considering i could get a journey with half the miles for same price and i plan on changing body kit, rims, and going with the eibach suspension is it worth the bigger brakes and the vlsd to buy a more expensive/more mileage g37s or just go with the journey.

On a side note what makes the sport suspension different? does going with the eibach pro plus kit make this negligible. Any and all information to help me with my decision other then cmon get the S because its better is much appreciated. also most of the sports are 08's

 

The sport suspension is stiffer and more responsive. Makes you feel more connected to the road. If you change the suspension (which doesn't mean just slapping springs on it.) it will "negate" the sport suspension... But I believe the power steering on the S is different as well? The sport brakes are awesome. Really awesome. Vlsd depends on how you're going to drive it really... I personally like it.

Now, is it worth it? No one can decide that for you except for yourself. Was it for me? Yes. I waited 5 months before I finally found "the one." 6spd black/black coupe S. And I couldn't be happier.

 

The S uses a 14.7:1 Sport-tuned steering rack.

Massive brakes, entire suspension package, VLSD, wheels/tires, fascia, aluminum pedals, better seats....I know I'm missing something.

I believe the brakes alone were worth the 2kish upcharge for the Sport Package.

I know how hard they are to find as I purchased one of the last 2013 Sports here in San Diego. I was looking for a 2010-2011 CPO, but all of the Sport models were priced used just 6k less than what a brand new one cost. The non-sports were far more plentiful and better priced, especially the Journey+Premium Lease returns.

Is a 08 with 70k to high of mileage in yalls opinion. I want a nice dependable ride.

 

I have an 08 with 80K miles...highway miles due to a 50 mile daily round trip commute. If previous owner did the routine maintenance you should be good. If it's a private seller ask to see the service/maintenance documents and receipts for replacement or aftermarket parts.

Brakes - I agree with the other fellas. The sport brakes are no joke and I speak from a before/after perspective. Now, you could do like me and systematically upgrade everything in the journey. If you're a DIY kind of guy you'll save huge on labor, but there are some journey to sport conversions that you'll probably want a shop to do. Or...you can start with the sport and go from there. Probably save enough going that route (vs individual upgrades to the journey to convert to sport) to offset the difference in price between the journey and sport. Hit me up if you have questions.

 

Are you looking to get a automatic or a 6 speed manual? Just know that 09 and up has a 7 speed automatic instead of the 5 speed auto on the 08 models.

Also, I've recently had to go through this dilemma. Where are you finding used G37S models that are double the mileage of a Journey but costing more? Here in S. California (according to Cars.com search anyway), similar equipped G37 Journey and G37 Sport, both at around 40k miles are about the same price give or take about a thousand. The ones you see for really low (15K range with 50k miles) have either a salvage title, or a bad carfax record. For me, having a clean carfax with no accidents and buying from a Infiniti dealer costed more, but am pretty much worry free as these cars are known to be reliable.

If you buy a Sport model, are you going to keep it mostly stock? If you are going to change the wheels, LSD to a better one than a viscous type, and suspension like I plan to...then Journey would be a very appealing option. In your case, it is a no-brainer(to me at least) to get a Journey with half the miles of a Sport model for the same price, and upgrade yourself if the cars aren't a salvage title/had accidents.

The stock LSD on sports models can be found used on eBay for around $400. I think you'll also want to get sway bars regardless if you have a sport model or not, drastic differences reported from people on this forum. Perhaps coilovers or stiffer springs and wider tires should have you handling better than a stock S model IMO. I do like the 19" wheels on the sports models though compared to the 18's on the Journey.

 

I had the same dilemma and ended up with the sport with double the mileage of the journey.

Don't regret it at all.

If the car had good maintenance it will last a long time.

 

If he plans to upgrade his car components after buying a sport model with double mileage for the same price...he might have those moments and think "maybe I should have bought the 40k car instead of the 80k."

 

I'm looking in NC and it's like the 30-60k journeys going for 20-23 and the 30-60 k sports are going for 25-28. These are the ones with clean car fax.

 

You're in NC but just to let you know I was at the dealership the other day getting my oil changed and a customer returned a black on black 6mt coupe with 12k miles. Georgeharte Infiniti west haven CT. A rwd manual car may be a tough sell here in CT. Could be worth it

Why don't you save yourself 5k and buy a clean carfax sports model somewhere else? Have a little vacation...or there are always delivery/freight options.

I have an 09 S 7spd RWD which I think is a more proper and fun GT (grand touring) car. It has 38k km. or like 24k miles. Im not attached to it, and im **** about everything being maintained, got records, its clean, properly lowered & set up. With lots of extras, plus the tech package, so fully optioned, still under warranty, car had a full pro pack before delivery with 3M, black on black, purchased in April 2010, don't drive it in snow or rain but ive been caught in a few showers about 3 of them, yep that's sad lol. I use it primarily for road trips, its not a start stop, to work, store, grocery getter, for the hell of it bullarky car. Always parked and stored indoors and heated.
For $60573.45 could be you here in Alberta driving a new one like mine home. Or save a boatload of time, money, and labour. I even just bought a brand new set of wheels and tires, plus have another other set. I'm kind of waiting for the new Z06, then ill most likely ditch that or keep it as a track car and go with the FT-1 if its released. But the offer would need to be good.
