I have driven the same way to work every day for 4 years and thought I knew every hiding spot for cops. I haven't even got my plates, only owned my G for less then a month.

Cop was just on the shoulder they almost never stop because there's very little room between the fast lane and the median wall, I tried to slow down but he got me at 80 on a 60mph.

I now know my 1st mod/investment is a radar detector...lol.

He's there more often than you realize. It just depends on what time you pass as to whether he's there or not. Sometimes they change it up. Most of the time they won't stop you unless you're over 70-75.

OK, so i have a newbish question... What exactly do radar detectors do? Obviously they detect radars, but by the time they do, isnt it too late? I know that with older radars, they worked great, because the older radars that cops used emitted the frequency in a large area, so the cop may not have been point directly at you, and the detector could just pick up the frequency in the genreal area. But from my reading, most places are now going with lasers, in which case, if you detector works, why does it matter? Would it not be too late at that point? Wouldnt the detector just derves as an early warning to.... you are going to get a ticket???

Laser jammers jam laser...
Radar detecting can be done 1.5-2 miles out before you see the source of the radar, giving you AMPLE time to slow down.
Most radar detectors have included laser detecting, but not jamming.
Laser detecting is useless, as laser is one solid beam...once it hits you, youre done.
Bottom line, radar detectors are extremely helpful.
I've read that alot of police are switching to lasers though. Which would logically mean one should invest in a laser jammer. So that brings another question... What happens when you jam the laser? Does the cop see 0MPH, or does it spaz out? Wouldnt he still pull you over anyways if it was blatently obvious you were speeding?
I'm not trying to be a d bag, i just am really curious. I'm sure i could find the answer elsewhere, but i like the opinions on this forum...

I just got the escort 9500ci installed, yes it's expensive, however it will pay for itself with a few tickets and insurance hikes. Looks clean, detects radar and jams laser, as a bonus it tells you where speed cams are and red light cams. The piece of mind it gives is worth the money for me, however I still drive smart which is the most important thing.
Normally I'm only doing 70 - 72 on these damn 60mph Houston freeways, one reason I miss Cali most freeways at least 65 to 70 mph. But I was running late and decided to go a bit over by the time I seen him I hit the brake and got it down to 80...lol.
Honestly when I'm in the G37, I don't really feel like I'm going as fast as I really am till I look down and see 75...80...85, then I'm like oh crap. My G35 on the other hand I could tell right away, maybe it's the fact I had the invidia exhaust and knew the sound or tone. Maybe I just need an exhaust on the G37, let run that by my girl see if I can convince her...lol.

There are special places for people that like to speed regardless of what the speed limit is, it's usually bent around trees, light posts, or unfortunately in sides or rears or front ends of other cars, usually with people in them. Do what you want, just keep it away from me and my family.
