tinting problem?

So I just bought a 2011 g37x coupe. I eventually plan on tinting it. My dad has a 370z that he has had it tinted and has problems with the fact that the windows go down when the doors open, causing the tint to peel (because of the no opening the windows for 3 days rule). The g does this also, so am I going to face problems trying to have it tinted?

You shouldn't have any problems with the tint curing from the window moving slightly up and down from opening/closing the door. My friend and I both dropped off our cars the same day and both our tints came out perfect. He has a FRS with the frameless window as well.

You should have no problems with the tint. I recently had my 2010 G37 x tinted about a month ago, everything cured just fine. I went with 20% on my all the way around and have no complaints what so ever.

If anything would happen, most places offer warranties for their tint. Which is why I would recommend also getting it done professionally just incase something were to happen.

Good luck, be sure to post pictures when it's done!

Great post.

I was wondering the same thing. Though I have not heard of the 3 day rule.
I guess I should think about parking my car outside for 3 days after I get it tinted

A good installer will use a dryer on the edge ... millions of us tint with no problems.

You can unbolt and remove the sensors that detect when the door is open or closed. This will leave the window up all the time. I left mine removed a day or so until I felt comfortable that the tints were dry enough. The tint place should know this.

Put a dryer or a heat gun on it. .. you'll be fine... I know about the overnight rule. ... not three days. ...

Wait, what?
Where is this bolt and how do you do that?

Any good professional installer with slide the tint low enough below the window seal to avoid any chance of this happening.

all i did on mine was take a screw drive and turn the screw in the door jam that holds the "button" and turn it a quarter turn and my windows stayed up.

You really don't need to worry about the small movement of the windows after doing tint if the tint shop is in the vicinity of professional. I've never had problems related to this and I've had quite a few cars with frame-less windows that do the same small movement when opening and closing doors.

edit* heres an image of a 350z. But look at your door seam, theres a sensor that you push that detects if the door is open or not (like anyother car). Ill see if I can take a pic and post it.

the guy that tinted my windows removed the door panel so that the tint would go below the window sill edge
