Used G37 - Need Help

Hi guys, I'm new to Infinitis, but I'm interested in picking up a really beautiful white G37X Sport. I've already taken it out. It's rock-solid, drives like an arrow, handles beautifully......BUT.......it's got 96,000KM on it, and it's a 2011. I'm not sure about this deal. I know the comprehensive goes at 100,000, and the powertrain only lasts until 110,000, so is this too risky an investment? Any advice is appreciated.

It's high-mileage but not excessively so.

As Morgs said (sort of ), it depends on the price...

^^ Highway miles are easier on the car. See if you can get a detailed history report to see if the maintenance has been kept up with.

I find that these cars are very low maintenance and very reliable. Specifically when compared to G35 coupes and BMW 3 series. I haven't had any issues with my 08 Sport coupe. Like others have said, see if you can obtain a service history and then just jump in and do the scheduled maintenance and enjoy.

The price of the car is $29,990. I'm Ok with it, because X sports are so FRIGGIN' hard to find, and this one is in the pearl white, which is even more difficult. My wife will enjoy it for the paddle shifters (she will need some knee surgery soon and doesn't want to clutch), and I'll settle for it to at least get something resembling a manual. I've heard of G's running well into the 200,000KM range without issue, and I'm SURE that these are mostly highway miles, but it's more the fact that I'd be teetering at the end of the warranty.

Oh, and the $29,900 is Canadian pricing, too.

From: Framingham Ma,
Am I reading this right, $29,900 for 96Kms( 59k?) Too high man sorry , just me, You could get a 2011 NON sport for WAY less $20k with half the miles and spend a couple grand and turn it into a S.

That seems extremely high. That converts to $27,500 USD with todays USD/CAD FX rate. I just ran KBB for a 2011 g37xs FULLY LOADED and in excellent condition with those miles it estimates $20,300 USD ($22k CAD) from a private seller. I bought my '08 sport in '12 with 21k miles for $24k usd (26k CAD).

Have you considered expanding your search and having the car shipped to you by the dealer?? i.e. I found my car via car max and had it delivered to my local dealership from across the state and it was only $150, but I think the delivery fees tend to be standard charges if I recall.

Is it from a dealer? If so, perhaps they could throw in an extended warranty to sweeten the deal and ease your mind a bit...

Thanks for the help

Hi guys, good advice all around. I offered him $27,000 for it but he's on the fence, and that was by no means a guarantee from me. I just wanted to see if he'd play in that ballpark.

In terms of buying a straight X coupe, what's involved in upping it to an S-style package? Really, all I care about are the paddle shifters. I couldn't give a hoot about the navi or anything (grossly over-expensive as it is).

Oh, and the car is from a rather reputable used dealer, not a private seller. I hate buying used cars from official dealerships. I find they're usually more full of B.S. than an independent used car dealership. As far as extended warranties, I just can't get behind them, but perhaps someone could sway my decision based on the right facts!

Where are you located Draven? im in Calgary and all vehicles i have ever looked at seemed to be much more expensive in Canada as opposed to the US, but i definitely think you can find a much better deal than that. If all you care about is the paddle shifters (which are not great in any real way), from what i understand they can be added relatively cheaply and easily. For the coupe, I think the S package gets the 19" wheels, big brakes, sport seats, paddles (if 7AT) and the sport bumper..some other guys can correct me if im wrong

Torontaaaa, the Vaughan area. Yeah, I heard the S package is basically bigger wheels, racing suspension, shifters and the navigation (though even that is an option, I think). The wheels I can get larger on my own. I couldn't give a toss about the suspension with all the potholes in Toronto, and the paddle shifters are only there because it's the closest thing to a manual I can find. I'd sooner find Jimmy Hoffa holding the Holy Grail inside the Illuminati Headquarters than a G37X S with a stick. Practically impossible to find. How do you add the paddle shifters? Sounds like kind of an expensive process.

I have a sport with 5AT and I hardly use the paddle shifters. I had a M/T before this car so I have a habit of keeping my hand on the **** in the center console anyway, I just shift using the stick shift. I hardly ever keep my car in D or DS unless I;m on the highway or cruising. For city driving I always shift manually because it is a lot of fun and I miss my MT a little bit =\

See the problem is my wife needs knee surgery because of a childhood injury, and I'm not sure what her recoup times will be. I taught her to be an excellent stick-driver in our Genesis Coupe but she has to get to work, and she gets caught in heavy traffic on the 401 sometimes, and I'm sure that knee isn't going to take well to constant clutching, so the paddles are a decent substitute.

if you dont have the paddles, you can still shift with the automatic **** in the center console. you push it to the side into "DS" mode and then to shift up you push it forward and to down shift you pull it back and it down shifts. No clutch or anything.
