Steering wheel trim swap

The trim piece on my steering wheel is all scratched up and i have another to replace it. Wondering if i absolutely HAVE to go to a dealer to get it done (because of the airbags) or if i can do it myself.

Hello Zach, welcome to the forum. Lucky for you, this is a very established forum. There's a DIY for just about anything you want to do to your car. I found this DIY in the sticky section, you should take a look at what's available if you're curious about other mods.

If you attempt to do this yourself, make sure you have the correct torx bit. Mine were the "Security" torx screws not the regular ones so i had to go buy a set from harbor freight. I then asked my dealer about the trim and they ended up replacing it for free so it might be worth it to check with one.

Hey check with your dealer , some dealers are replacing it under warranty , if your warranty is over even by a year they'll do it just tell them that all the infiniti's have the same problem and for a premium vehicle its non-sense to have dash components rub off...
