Tiny rust spot on trunk

I bought a used 2009, and I just noticed a teeny little spot on the trunk where the paint is chipped all the way off, and the exposed area is rusted. The actual chip is maybe less than 1mm in circular diameter, maybe less. But, the paint around it has started to discolor a bit as well.

How do I stop, prevent, or fix this? It's not noticeable, so I don't need to do anything to make it cosmetically better. But I want to stop it where it is.

What does one do? clean it out, scrape off rust, and dab on primer with a q-tip? cover it in clear nail polish? It's the type of thing that if I can just stop any spread, I am fine with it, no one would ever notice unless they were 1 inch away. But I know it can get really bad, and repainting a whole trunk sounds terrible.

First off... and i dont want to sound like an idiot... are you sure it it chipped, and not something ON the paint... Rail Dust seems to be a somewhat common issue. Is your car Ivory Pearl?

Clean, remove rust, clean, apply touch up paint.

That's it.

Got home with pics. Index finger for scale. It's definitely a concave pit, you can see the weird brown coloring on the paint too. I hope thats on top of the paint and not beneath.

I do have a touchup paint pen that is the same color, meant for this car. Do I sand out rust, scrape it, flick it?
