Thought you guys might like to know that there's a new option for beautifying our older G37S Coupe front bumpers. I bought a 'Chinese' front spoiler from ebay for just $84 shipped. It arrived quickly and in perfect condition, and to my surprise was an excellent fit right out of the box.


The spoiler is advertised as "G37 EVO Polyurethane Spoiler"...


I chose to have mine painted locally in the factory Platinum Graphite color for a great match; costing about a further hundred bucks and I am absolutely THRILLED by the outcome. The car suddenly looks much more modern.


I fitted the spoiler using double-sided 3M automotive trim tape, and attached the fender wrap-arounds with a couple of trim buttons. I also used a couple of stainless screws (from underneath) for additional strength. Although the spoiler looks lower I believe it is approximately the same height as the stock bumper... so I have had absolutely no scrapes or bumps!


Go get one... HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

 

Nice find, but looks a little bubbly for my taste. The color is a couple shades off too

New(ish) pin striping is very easy to remove. If the stick on kind.

I bought a new car when I was younger, a 200SX, that had pin striping. After letting the car sit out in the warm sun, it peeled right off.

Now to the front bumper spoiler. It looks pretty nice. Not bad for under $200 painted and installed.

Yeah... that's dealer pinstripe (the stick-on variety). I don't dislike them!

And, before someone asks those are also pained, 'ebay' bump strips on the doors.

I guess the lighting must have been harsh in the photo, or something, because in person the color appears to be a great match. Just my opinion!! Anyway its the spoiler itself I really wanted to share the details about... you can trust me that's it not just a piece of junk.

 

I should add that the photo of the spoiler itself was BEFORE painting. The photo is not very clear, but it is BLACK. The photo on the car is after applying adhesion promoter and several coats of paint...

More pics of the painted spoiler might put some of those color matching questions to rest. Either way, that has nothing to do with the lip and everything to do with your painter. The front lip looks good, glad you made it work, and it sounds like you did a quality install instead of just shooting some self tapping screws in.

 

Rob is bringing sexy back! And by sexy I mean pinstripes AND bodyside molding. Do your own thing man. If you like it and think it rocks that's what should matter; not what everyone else with a G37 thinks.

 

Man I actually think that looks pretty nice.

 

For people bashing this, what other alternatives are there for <$200 color matched? I don't think it looks half bad

 

I don't think it looks bad at all, however, for the sake of answering your question, the alternative is simple. Don't buy one. I'm glad that OP found a front splitter that looks good and IS cheap, but a lot of people seem to think that cheaper is always better. Just because you CAN get a splitter for <200 doesn't mean you SHOULD.

BTW my paint guy said it came with a lot of silicone (mold release) agent on it, so he scrubbed it with dish liquid and left out in the sun for a day or so before painting to ensure adhesion. No problems so far!
