Thinking of leaving the G behind

Soo with technology these days I have always been a keen guy for new and exciting things.

Saying that I think I may be moving over to the tesla family... I have fallen for the Model S and the prices have dropped so much lately that its almost the same price point as a new G. Only maybe 10k more.

I think if I sell my G or trade it in, I could get one for not a bad price! I am sure everyone here knows the car I'm talking about.. I just cant get over how awesome it is! Now its almost affordable haha!

The next month or two will tell you if I get one or not. lol

Hmmmm 90k for a 200-225 mile range, massive electronics (bound to fail) and they catch on fire in accidents or you hit road debris, no thanks. Tesla is king of the electric cars but I'll pass for now. Good luck hope you can get a good deal and it works out for you.

Agreed. Not really worth the money. Call me crazy (in which I posted this in one of the other sections), but I think my next car will be the Accord Coupe V6 6MT or possibly the Mazda 6 turbo diesel, when it finally arrives here in the US.

If they survive ... which is a shame because Tesla has been around for a while. Not too many "mainstream" people heard of them until the S and all the "green" excitement. They developed the best battery system to date ( I guess TBD with the exposure under the car issues). They had early transmission issues but I think those have been resolved.

I'd like to see them succeed.

I think if you go Tesla, lease it. Elon Musk guarrentees the value of the car will hold with his own money.

I think it's a beautiful car :-)

Wish all investments were 100% fail safe because someone said so.

To date, there has been 3 Teslas that have caught on fire. There's a good chance it will happen if you hit road debris and puncture the battery pack.

I want a Tesla myself and I did read a article that states it pass the safety test with flying colors and got a ridiculous high score. You can do a complete battery swap in 90sec at a Tesla charging station. The car has a lot of cool features and with time it will get better and more affordable.

I guess my thought process is ... I spend a lot of $$ on a car that is no doubt a really nice car and so much going for it. How do I take it to visit family in MI when I live in MD or family in FL or a beach trip in SC? Well you have to own a second car and frankly 90k is too much for a car with really limited trip worthiness. It's really still just a status symbol but then again, aren't most nice cars?

"3 Teslas have been caught on fire to date" LOL? That's like saying 3 cars have blown up to date so he shouldn't get a tesla because his car might catch fire because 3 others have .... Lmao that's some good deductive reasoning right there .... Gotta love this forum

Wow, so many people don't like Tesla, like Johnny said, having 3 of the same cars catch on fire? Of course cars catch on fire, haha. Read to why is the key. I have done my research and when I see a car that goes 0-60 in 4.4 seconds, goes over 400km a charge, re-charges in the time it takes for a lunch break, and has a single speed gear box with 100% torque and power 100% of the time... Not to mention, zero gas, zero maintenance other then tires and breaks, and a price tag under 80k with a 8yr unlimited millage warranty... It sounds pretty tempting. And the ones that caught on fire.. they did mention that the car warned them it had an issue then helped them pull over and get out of the car before it was up in flames... what kind of car has that technology! LMAO! the Tesla does!

Anyways, this is my 2 cents. And with the highest in safety to boot... I don't see why people would not want them. Its a crazy nice car! worth the money as I wont be spending 400-600 in fuel monthly. And I would get to park in the front of most malls and large parking lots as they have special electric car parking spots I like the way this is sounding.

Tesla is a great company... and the Model S is a fantastic car. Too bad people are so afraid of change that they are looking to impeach its credibility with any possible hyperbolic example like 3 cars catching fire. How many Explorers rolled over with Firestone tires in their hey day? How many Toyotas had uncontrollable acceleration issues? How many early to mid 90s Hondas were recalled due to faulty seatbelt issues? Yet, all of those have been selling with little impedance. There isn't a carmaker out there that has a completely faultless record for engine/performance issues.

Yes, three vehicle fires is definitely somewhat concerting, but if you are planning to purchase or not purchase from an automaker based on its history of recalls/issues, you'd be much better off purchasing a jet or just walking around with a bicycle helmet strapped to your skull.

Oh- just to clear the air, the starting price of the Model S is mid to low $60K range. If you go all out, you can run up into the $90k range, but don't be mistaken and think it starts there.

You'd be crazy to purchase a from an automaker with a history of recalls. Not in regards to Tesla, but automobiles in general. A lot of recalls means someone messed up somewhere and are continually doing so. Not worth the safety of me and my family. Again, not referring to Tesla's 3 fires.
