Exhaust Diffuser Clearance

Hey guys,

Wanted your advice. I have a Autokits X V2 Diffuser in fiberglass painted matte black. I also have an Ark CBE. I installed the diffuser yesterday and wanted some advice on how much space there should be between the diffuser and the exhaust tips. On the right side I have around 3-4mm of space while on the left I have around 5-6 mm space. I've added pictures below. Let me know your suggestions. I really dont wanna go back to the exhaust shop, but will if needed.

Thanks
rox

Most people that have aftermarket exhaust systems with 4" or larger exhaust tips, run into clearance issues with the tips rubbing on the diffuser or being extremely close. This is normal and is too be expected. U could probably see if u can tweak the exhaust hangers to allow the system to sit a little lower for more clearance. However the ARK system already sits low so I probably wouldn't recommend that.

Thank you. I just want to make sure I won't burn or melt the fiberglass diffuser. The look to me is perfect though. Would it burn or melt the fiberglass?

As long as it's not touching your diffuser your fine, also check for free play make sure the exhausts not loose cuz when your reving hard it could shake the tips and cause them to hit your diffuser

Thank you. It is not touching thats for sure. Just close. There is no play in the exhaust which is good.

Hey not to Hi-jack the thread, but out of curiosity...is the diffuser a piece that is detatchable from the stock bumper? I mean does the actual diffuser just bolt in or is it something a shop should handle?

This is the Autokits X V2 diffuser. It is stuck on with 3m tape and the stock bumper clips (underneath the license plate). No modification necessary.

They told me it takes 12 business days. However, when I sent my first diffuser back to them they shipped a new one the day after they received the old one.

Hey fellas, little bit of input here:

To "rmfnla": Yep, right on top of your bumper. Do the bumper prep (in a separate forum thread) for maximum adhesion, line it up and put it on. Easy mod.

Ship time: AK warned that as they are made to order turnaround could be 4 weeks. Turned out to be 5 with a holiday sandwiched in.

Exhaust/Diffuser clearance: I have Fast Intentions and the right tip was HIGHER than the left and vibrating against the diffuser. Solution was simple. I took off the three bolts holding the exhaust hanger, added three washers to each and this leveled off the right tip with the left tip nicely. No further issues.

+1, exact same problem, same solution with my FI setup.
