ipl ultra fast depreciation

Unreal. I appraised my 2013 ipl, & they would give me only 34g's for my ride. 2200 miles, & 4 months old. Unreal

I think now is just a bad time to be trading in a late model/almost brand new G37 coupe or sedan. I would hold out for a year or two and enjoy your coupe.

You can definitely get more than 24K on the street ANMVQ. I think their lowball offer is a polite way for them to say they do not want your trade. Take on a look on Autotrader. 2011 Coupes with low miles are going for more than 24k.

Again, with the Q release and the repricing of all the existing sedans, it's a bad time to be trading in a 2010-2013 Coupe or Sedan.

Four months is the sweet spot for maximum depreciation; you know, that big hit you take when you first drive it off the lot.

Give it a year or so for the equity (inherent value) to catch up...

Who is "they"?

If you went to dealer they of course low-balled you; they want to make a profit.

Check the various car resale sites online to get a more realistic idea of what your car is worth...

What return is he looking for it to depend? Bottom line is this is not an investment.

The depreciation on G37's is awful. The IPL is even worse... I felt the pain. Fortunately the cost of preowned E92 M3's is going up, up, up even a recent article about it.

5 years 50%

5 years 50% is considered really good. Not all cars follow this.. look at the 07 bmw 335i. Fuel pump issues cause people to scramble to get out of them before their warranty was up. So a 3 year old one could have been had for about 26k. You also have a last year model run g. next model coming out. Hope you got a good deal because of this.

I looked at the 335i as a potential replacement for my last G and could not get over how poor the resale is on these cars once they are outside of a warranty period. You can pickup an 07 335 is almost perfect condition for a song.

This is where the Japanese shine; Yes, they are not always the ultimate driving machine, but at 100k, you are still driving them and not even thinking twice about reliability.

On the Used Car side, reliability is really everything for many people. That's why you see so many parents buying used 80K+ mile Civics, Corrolas, Sentras, etc. for their kids to schlep back and forth to school in.

I got more than that for my 2011 IPL with 15k miles trading it in. Not much mind you but, but for yours being 2 years newer and so few miles you should be able to get more.

The IPL was priced pretty aggressively to start (specialty model with a limited audience), so I don't think it's a good indicator of the overall resale value of our cars.

Take a look at say a 2003-04 coupe with under 60k miles on Autotrader. Folks are still getting 20k for these cars.
