Very sad day!!!
Very sad day!!!
Well today is a day I will never forget. Regrettably I had to trade in my 2011 IPL for a 2013 Hyundai Sonata 2.0T(turbo) Unlimited.
My mother fell ill and had to stop working. With my father having passed away years ago and a brother making slightly over minimum wage, and her pension being peanuts, kinda left the financial responsibility to me. Seeing how my mother has always been there for us I figured it was my time to be there for her.
By doing the vehicle swap, I am saving myself almost $600 a month on the payments. Hyundai had a promotion that offered 0% financing for 96 months that dropped my payments down to around $300 a month. Plus I am saving about an additional $250 a month in gas and insurance.
I can say that one day down the road, I will be an Infiniti owner again and I will once again feel the excitement of driving.
The Hyundai is surprisingly a decent car. I got the fully loaded model with the 280hp turbo charged engine, paddle shifters and leather seats which makes the switch slightly more bareable. The ride is smooth, and the power is sufficient for a sedan. I get about 1100km's on a 70 litre highway and about 800km's in the city which is about 5.6L/100km HW and 6.9L/100km City.
I will still be lurking the G37 forum so that I am up to date when that blessed time comes.
Y'all have fun driving your G's.

Sorry to hear of your situation, sounds like you're taking the responsible steps to make things easier to handle. We had an 06 Sonata Limited and was as reliable as a Swiss watch, they've come along faster than any automaker in recent years, should be a great car for years.
Hope your moms' illness is something that can improve, having lost my father to Cancer a few years back I know how devastating those situations can be.
Hang in there brother, hope you'll stick around

I have the utmost respect for your decision to step up to the plate and help your family out. Whether you believe in karma, good fortune, or whatever, that is just plain good of you.
You will be blessed in this choice and you will be back.
Oh- and I pray for a speedy and full recovery for your mom.

Thank you to everyone for the kind words of encouragement.
My mother was diagnosed with a spinal degeneration condition that makes it extremely difficult to walk or sit for any length of time. Thankfully there is corrective surgery, however due to our lovely "Free healthcare" system she has about a 1 to 2 year wait and then about 4 month recovery time.
So in the meantime by swapping vehicles I have found away to supplement her meager pension with an additional $900 a month until she is healed and back on her feet.
Rest assured, I will be a G owner once again. Well I guess I will be a Q owner by then.

I would do the same for my mom in a heart-beat. Sucks she has to deal with the pain and suffering for 1-2years. Wishing her a speedy recovery!
On the flipside, I used to work for Hyundai, their cars are actually extremely nice, but it's just not the same as a luxury vehicle...

Your a Good man! most for you coming on here and posting your family business. But 96months? to pay on a car is just nuts. You don't want to pay on any car that long as you will end upside down big time. I would get a 60 month lone if you can. You don't need a Infiniti as young person. I did not get my first infiniti until 33.
Enjoy you new car and I wish your mom best of luck!

However,
An upside down loan occurs when your interest rate is too high or you finanace more than the value of the vehicle (rolling negative equity into the new loan from your trade in). For example: you finance a G37 retails for 56,000 at 7% interest you will end up paying back approx $75,000 with interest. This is an upside down loan because you are now carrying that negative equity due to the interest. Every single dollar I pay goes straight to the principle so its impossible for it to become upside down.
I am also saving about $4800 in interest so if in 5 years I want to get rid of it, I will be in a position to take a loss and still be ahead.
LOL I am happy to hear someone thinks I am young but sadly I turned 39 this summer lol
Respect. Wish your mom all the best!. And good job taking the initiative to do the trade in for your car. Like one of the people said above, Cars always come and go, Family's first. I know how it feels like but don't worry , Hang in there brother !!
